Synopsis
In an empire where names weigh heavier than lives, a mute child emerges from the desert like a mirage — protected by nature, but forgotten by mankind. Auréel knows neither his name, nor his origins, not even the sound of his own voice. Found at the age of three by a former soldier, he is raised far from the empire’s turmoil, nurtured in silence, mystery… and the love of a man the world seems to have erased from history. But when this adoptive father dies under violent circumstances, Auréel is cast into a world that rejects him before it even knows him. For he carries a name everyone despises: Gold. Rejected. Branded. Followed by a lion and haunted by a promise, Aureel enters the Imperial Academy to survive - or disappear. But the ghosts of the past lurk, and some truths are still waiting to strike. He's not looking to be a hero. He just wants to live. But sometimes, light doesn't choose. It condemns.

Chapter 1 - index

The Awakening

When Awakening occurs, a power emerges.

It can be elemental (fire, ice, wind, earth…), mental, physical, spiritual, or something stranger still. It often reflects the person's true nature.

No two Awakened individuals will ever wield the same power in the same way.

No two flames are ever identical.

The Faults

Every power comes with a Fault — a constraint tied to the soul.

This Fault depends on who the person truly is, deep inside.

The Fault is personal, permanent, and sometimes more crippling than the power itself.

True Names

Some, at the moment of Awakening, receive a True Name.

This name does not come from men. It is spoken by the world itself.

It means the person is recognized as unique by existence itself.

It is rare. And always a sign that their fate will be different.

Potential Assessment

Right after Awakening, a special orb is used to measure an individual's potential.

Here are the six levels:

Novice

Intermediate

Advanced

Master

Saint

Sovereign (extremely rare)

Monsters

Monsters are found all over the world. They do not belong to any empire — they are ancient and independent.

Some are wild beasts. Others are sentient creatures.

They are ranked as follows:

Milan – Weak, hunted for training.

Hunter – Fast, vicious, often found in packs.

Massacre – Powerful, capable of wiping out entire villages.

Titan – Colossal or highly resilient. Require multiple Awakened to defeat.

Scourge – Known by name. Legends are written about them.

Fallen – Ancient terrors. Some are worshipped by entire peoples.

Remnants

When a powerful monster is slain, it may leave behind a Remnant:

A strange object (bone, heart, fragment…)

An essence or gift

A spiritual mark

These Remnants can be used to craft weapons, enhance powers, or perform ancient rituals.

But they do not appear every time.
