Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Abilities Demonstration

The initial assessment of Min-Jae's abilities was conducted at the hospital, using a specialized device brought by the Chief Inspector of the Hunter Association. This assessment confirmed that Min-Jae had indeed awakened as a Hunter.

As expected, the measurements of his magical energy were off the charts, directly indicating that Cha Min-Jae, the brother of the 9th S-Rank Hunter Cha Hai-In, had become the 11th S-Rank Hunter in the country, just shortly after the announcement of the 10th S-Rank.

Even before the official announcement was made, rumors started to spread, and everyone became increasingly excited to hear the news confirmed.

This excitement was particularly palpable, as the 4th Jeju Island raid was on the horizon. Given the growing number of gates opening across the country, Korea needed more powerful Hunters to address the situation, which had been a point of concern compared to the capabilities of other nations in the region.

The fact that South Korea had to seek assistance from its neighbor, Japan, for the 4th Jeju Island raid, further underscored the need for more formidable Hunters to safeguard the country.

---

At the moment, Min-Jae was sitting in the apartment he shared with his sister, after their parents had passed away long ago.

It was 8 AM, and he was scheduled to leave for the Hunter Association headquarters at 10 AM to undergo the class assessment and obtain his Hunter's license.

Having some time to spare, he decided to make the most of this new universe by watching television, something he couldn't have done in his previous life.

As he watched the news coverage of the upcoming 4th Jeju Island raid, a question suddenly came to his mind.

'The Jeju Island raid has already been announced. At this time, Jin-woo is still at the demon castle, and I can't tell what's happening there. The question is, will he return before the Jeju Island raid? And if he does come back, will he join the raid or not?'

These were important questions for Min-Jae, as he would need to make his own decisions. Given the fact that he was unaware of the plot details surrounding the Jeju Island raid or the events to come, it was challenging for him to make a decision without the risk of significantly altering the storyline.

Although the question was whether it matters if the storyline is altered too much, the truth is that he had no idea what would happen in the future.

'Hmm, I should have just watched the remaining episodes,' he thought. 'But in that case, I get to become the main character of this universe now. I'm sure that with the power of Zenith Gojo I created, I would be more powerful than Jin-woo, though, I don't have any way to know how much he will grow after this.'

'However, if I remember correctly, I saw one of those Instagram posts where fans compared the power levels of characters like Naruto, Ichigo, Luffy, Goku, and Sung Jin-woo at their peak. And I'm quite certain that Jin-woo was the one who received the most votes. If that's true, it would mean he becomes more powerful than Goku, which would mean my idea might not work out as planned. Though, it was a Solo Leveling Fan Page. So , I won't be too sure.'

---

After wasting some time, it was finally time for him to leave for the class assessment. Although Cha Hai-In wanted to stay with him, he asked her not to. Plus, she had a raid to attend to, another A-Rank gate that her current guild, the Hunters Guild, of which she was the vice guild master, would clear.

It was likely that Min-Jae would join the Hunters Guild in the future, given that his sister was the guild master. So, the decision wasn't too difficult.

Still, the future would depend a lot on how Jin-woo handles things, which guild he joins, or if he even joins a guild at all. How Cha Hai-In will interact with Jin-woo in the future could also change many things.

For now, though, it was important to focus on the task at hand rather than worry about the future.

'Let's head to the Hunter Association Headquarters and get my hunter license,' he said to himself, 'I am sure I will be given a Mage Class. A Mage with Defense and long range offence.'

---

After finally reaching the Hunter Association building, he entered through the back door instead of the front, as he had been informed that there would be reporters outside the building.

The reason for this was that rumors about the announcement of the 11th S-Rank Hunter were already circulating. Reporters wouldn't want to miss the chance of getting the first shot at the newest S-Rank Hunter of the country, as this was huge news for the people.

Especially since the hunter was related to one of the country's famous hunters, Cha Hai-In.

---

Upon arriving at the building, Min-Jae was welcomed by the Chief Inspector of the Hunter Association, Woo Jin Chul, whom he had met once before at the hospital during his first awakening test.

"So, what will happen here today? What do I need to do?" Min-Jae asked, even though he already knew, just wanting the conversation to continue, as they were walking silently with an awkward silence.

"As your rank assessment test is already done, today is the class assessment test. Here, you will demonstrate your hunter abilities, and after analyzing them, you will be assigned a suitable hunter class from the existing ones: Fighters, Mages, Assassins, Tankers, Rangers, and Healers." Woo Jin Chul explained further.

"I see. What about you then?" Min-Jae asked.

"Me? Well, I'm a Fighter class hunter, though only an A-Rank," Woo Jin Chul joked as they finally arrived in front of a gate, where a few security guards from the Hunter Association were standing. They nodded upon seeing Woo Jin Chul and opened the gate to the room, gesturing for Min-Jae to walk in, and Woo Jin Chul followed him inside. Once they were inside, the door was closed again.

Soon, a middle-aged man walked over to Min-Jae, whom he recognized from the anime, though they had never met in person.

"Hunter Cha Min-Jae, nice to meet you," the man welcomed him, picking up a notebook and looking back at Min-Jae.

"Let's start the class assessment then. First of all, we need to confirm your abilities to assign you a class. So, what kind of abilities can you use?"

Min-Jae knew this was similar to Sung Jin-woo's evaluation, so he had already prepared a few abilities to demonstrate, keeping the display limited. He was confident these abilities would assign him to the Mage class, just like Sung Jin-woo.

He shown them Red & Blue, though, basic.

"I can also perform basic to intermediate telekinesis, which allows me to move objects," Min-Jae added.

He paused, then stepped back."One more thing. Then there is Infinity, a defensive technique. It creates an infinite spatial barrier around me, slowing any attack aimed at me to a standstill by forcing it to traverse an endless distance. It's like an invisible shield that nothing can penetrate."He turned to Woo Jin Chul. "Chief Inspector, could you throw a punch at me? Full force, if you don't mind."

Woo Jin Chul hesitated, his brow creasing with concern. "A punch? Are you sure? I'm an A-Rank Hunter. I don't want to risk injuring you."

Min-Jae smiled confidently, gesturing for him to proceed. "Trust me, Chief Inspector. You won't even touch me. This is the best way to show what Infinity can do. Go ahead, give it your all."

Woo Jin Chul exchanged a glance with Kim Sang-ho, who gave a reluctant nod, still clutching his clipboard tightly. After a moment, Woo Jin Chul sighed, squared his shoulders, and stepped forward. "Alright, if you're certain."He launched a swift, powerful punch, his A-Rank strength propelling his fist toward Min-Jae's chest with a force that could shatter concrete. But as the punch neared, it slowed dramatically, as if caught in an invisible quagmire. Woo Jin Chul's fist crawled to a stop mere inches from Min-Jae, trembling in mid-air, unable to advance further.

He stepped back, his eyes wide with disbelief, flexing his hand as if testing its reality.

"That's all I can demonstrate for now," Cha Min-Jae stated. He possessed additional capabilities, but even the ones he had showcased would already place him among the elite S-Rank hunters. There was no need to reveal more.

His skillset included long-range attack and defense, akin to a typical mage-type hunter. However, it was highly unlikely that any other hunter could match the sheer power of his Infinity defense.

"Thank you for your cooperation, Hunter Cha Min-Jae. I will be back shortly with the assessment results."
