Chapter 9 - c8: Ender Pearls

"Aaaand done!"

With both hands resting on my waist, I looked at my masterpiece—a cave entrance blocked by a giant iron (blocks) gate.

After debating for a while, I tore down both portal frames from my world, before building a new one deep in a cave.

It was the deepest cave I know so far, but unfortunately, although everything was covered in deepslate, I didn't stumble upon an ancient city. I was hoping to find an enchanted golden apple, but I suppose maybe next time.

Anyway, this cave had been fully explored. After blocking various natural entrances, only one entrance and exit remained. As for the tunnels, there were over a dozen, each leading upward, with only one not being a dead end. Inside, traps were more common than bugs.

While exploring the cave, I found many lava pools, and emptied them. Each bucket of lava was precious, poured at the deepest area I like to call "The End Cavern."

The whole floor was covered in lava, albeit only one block deep. At the center was a small platform, where a standard unlit portal awaits, surrounded stalagmites. Oh, and the entire ceiling was covered in stalactites. For aesthetics, I replaced the deepslate ceiling with drip stone blocks.

Inside the walls, I trapped several dozens of skeletons, leaving a one block gap for them to shoot at anyone that comes out. Now, once the intruders get through the cavern, they'd be met with creepers upon creepers.

I remembered the ninjas can slip underground, so I made sure that if they did that, they'll be greeted by at least one creeper if they pop their heads out. Not mentioning the mobs that would passively spawn overtime.

I learned that there's no theoretical mob limit in this world, but the trade-off was that they spawn really slowly. That's why, I terraformed the landscape a bit. That river far away from here? Now, it leads near this cave thanks to my handy shovel.

A couple days, probably weeks, of fishing later and I'd think the cave is now full of mobs. Now, how do I get there?....

Simple, through an ender pearl. It works a bit differently here, and to use a ender pearl, I have to infuse it with a smidge bit of xp. Then, as long as the pearl break, I teleport in the location. Now, all I have to do is break the ender pearl next to the portal.

What will break it, then? An arrow. To be exact, I'll have to brave the labyrinthine cave and then shoot an arrow at the pearl. Did you know, there's this thing Minecraft players do called digging through walls.

The cavern might be impossible to dig toward to or out of, but the other tunnels are. I just need to dig toward the nearest tunnel and quickly shoot an arrow. If things get sketchy, I'll sacrifice another ender pearl.

Enderman are ridiculously rare in this world, but thankfully they all drop ender pearls. All four I killed, anyway. Now, it's time for action. Taking a look at my inventory, I nodded in content. Then, I dug into the iron blocks gate and patched it back up.

It was dark, so I brought out a torch and light it up. A few minutes of walking later, the tunnel leading forward came to an abrupt halt—and looking down, there was a long drop. You couldn't even see the bottom.

I didn't dig this, it was natural, which amazed me when I first discovered it. The drop was more than a hundred blocks.

A sudden news spread like widefire across the entire shinobi world. The Senju and the Uchiha clans had become allies.

Madara Uchiha, the infamous clan head of the Uchiha clan, stared at the portal frame in front of him. This portal had seemingly materialized out of thin air, and ever since then, the Uchiha had kept it as their most guarded secret. They even usurped this land just to keep everyone out.

"For years, this had remained a mystery. I've been too busy fighting to even check it out," Madara spoke, his voice haughty and his eyes condescending. "You're telling me, unknown monsters come out of this... structure?"

An Uchiha standing behind him nodded. "Using fire and a significant amount of chakra, the portal can be opened for a few minutes."

"So this is how you've been obtaining... what was it again? Ender pearls?" Madara's onyx eyes narrowed.
