A ship lands on Kortan, and a group of hunters steps out to go hunt animals and return. But what they didn't know was that someone had been hiding inside the ship—and slipped out unnoticed. That person was not from Kortan. He was from the Kingdom of Denmark, and his name was Sam.
Sam had snuck into Kortan because he wanted to request help from the ruler. There was a new threat… one that could endanger not just Kortan, but the entire planet Earth.
Sam walks through the streets of Kortan. Everyone notices, from his old-fashioned clothing, that he's from another kingdom. The police notice too and arrest him. But when they catch him, they discover something strange: he has a modern, advanced blaster gun.
They take Sam to an interrogation room and ask him how he got there, where he got the weapon from, and what he wants.
Sam, speaking in a slightly frightened voice, says:
> "Please… let me speak to your ruler. I have important news I must share with him."
One officer responds:
> "The ruler doesn't have time to waste on a trespasser like you. Just answer our questions and stop stalling."
Meanwhile, a scientist was examining the blaster Sam was carrying—and he discovered something strange and terrifying. He rushes into the interrogation room and says:
> "Uhh… guys. I think we need to listen to him. The ruler needs to see this."
Ruler Clinton is brought in and speaks with the scientist.
Scientist:
> "This blaster Sam is carrying... it wasn't made in Kortan. In fact, it wasn't made using normal materials at all. It's crafted from… a specific kind of energy."
Clinton is shocked by this information and goes to speak to Sam.
Clinton:
> "Where did you get this weapon? And what is this threat you're talking about?"
Sam:
> "Finally, you're here. Okay, listen, what I'm about to say is hard to believe. But there's someone named Alvarez who has a strange, incredible ability—he can create weapons and armor out of thin air. Any weapon he sees or imagines, he can create it with his own hands, even modern ones like yours. This power makes him extremely dangerous. He has already conquered Denmark, and now he's planning to invade the rest of the kingdoms."
Clinton:
> "Is he a sorcerer? How many weapons can he make?"
Sam:
> "I don't know for sure, but he can make a lot. In fact, he's already assembled a Viking army in Denmark armed with modern weapons. I managed to steal one of the guns and escape here to warn you. He's a merciless tyrant."
Clinton has trouble believing what he hears, but just in case, he decides to act. He assembles a squad of Knights of Light and orders them to travel to Denmark to verify Sam's story. Just before they leave, Connor appears and speaks to his father:
Connor:
> "You formed a team of Knights of Light for a mission and didn't even think to tell me?"
Clinton:
> "This mission is of the utmost importance. I don't want you messing it up with your recklessness. If what Sam says is true, we're facing a massive threat. This isn't like the criminals you're used to fighting."
Connor:
> "Dad, I know you don't trust me, but please—give me a second chance. I'm trying to improve. When I defeated the criminal Onen Makariker, I almost killed him… but I didn't. I'm trying to follow your teachings."
Clinton:
> "…Alright. You may go with them."
Connor joins the Knights and boards the airship. Before takeoff, his father calls out:
> "Son… be careful."
Quick note before we continue the story:
The Knights of Light wear iron masks. Yes, I know I should've mentioned that earlier, but anyway, let's continue.
Connor boards the ship, and after some time, the Knights arrive in the Kingdom of Denmark—the land of the Vikings. The citizens notice their arrival. The king's advisor rushes to inform him. When Alvarez hears the news, he smiles and says:
> "Good."
Connor and the others leave the ship and head to the palace. The king steps out and says:
> "Wow… Am I dreaming or what? Knights from Kortan in Denmark? Why would you leave your high-tech paradise to come to my humble kingdom?"
Connor replies:
> "Enough talking. Tell us—are you Alvarez? Can you really create weapons out of nothing?"
King:
> "Alvarez? Never heard of him. Create weapons? I don't even know how to cook—how would I know how to make weapons?"
Connor grows irritated by the king's foolish behavior. He ignites his lightsaber and threatens:
> "Stop wasting my time. Tell me where Alvarez is or I'll cut you in half."
King:
> "Whoa, take it easy, kid. Haha… I didn't know the Knights of Light were willing to kill an unarmed man."
Connor takes a deep breath to calm down and tells the others:
> "This is a waste of time. Spread out and search the place. We need to see if there are any guns or weapons here."
The king smiles when he hears this. He snaps his fingers. His advisor pulls out a magical staff, summons purple orbs, and casts them toward all the Knights of Light—except Connor.
Connor is stunned:
> "W-What happened?! What did you do to my Knights?"
King:
> "What just happened is… my advisor used his magic to take control of your knights' minds. Their wills are now gone. They'll do whatever I say."
Connor:
> "That's impossible. There's no such thing as magic!"
King:
> "Don't believe me? Okay, watch this. You there—kill yourself."
The king points at one of the knights. The knight obeys—and kills himself.
Connor is horrified. For the first time, he feels true fear and helplessness. In Kortan, he always had control, always crushed criminals. But now… he feels like he's on the edge of death.
King:
> "You're probably wondering why I didn't let my advisor control you as well, huh? Well, I'm a little bored. I want to fight someone. So I told him to leave you alone—I want to test your strength."
Then… the king creates a lightsaber out of thin air. Literally, it forms in his hand—just like the one Connor uses.
Connor is shocked. Sam was telling the truth—the king of Denmark is Alvarez.
Connor tries to stay calm and thinks:
> (Damn… I'm in a really bad situation. But there's still hope. If I can get past Alvarez and destroy the magical staff, I might be able to break the spell on my knights. …I'm not sure if it'll work, but it's the best chance I have.)
Connor charges, trying to bypass Alvarez and reach the advisor. But Alvarez conjures a chain and throws it, binding Connor and pulling him back.
Connor attacks Alvarez, but Alvarez easily parries the blows. Connor grips his sword with both hands—but Alvarez, holding his saber with only one hand, still dominates him. This fight was nothing but amusement for Alvarez.
Alvarez:
> "Man… your fighting style is boring. So easy to predict and block."
Connor, enraged, attacks again—but Alvarez dodges, grabs Connor by the head, and slams him into the ground, breaking his nose. Then he stabs him in the stomach. Connor is now barely alive.
Alvarez:
> "I could let you die right now… but where's the fun in that? I want to kill you in front of your father. I want to see the look on his face when his son dies. That would be fun.
Oh, and by the way—that guy Sam who warned you about me? He works for me. I sent him to your kingdom to lure Clinton into sending his knights… so I could have my sorcerer control them.
This was all a trap—and you all fell for it like fools."
He orders his sorcerer to use magic to heal Connor's wounds—then casts the mind-control spell on him too.
Now, Alvarez begins preparing his army—Vikings armed with guns, rifles, grenades, rockets… and the brainwashed Knights of Light.
Alvarez:
> "Alright boys… today is the big day. We're paying Kortan a visit."
