Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Introduction

Within the world of Aloria, scattered throughout the planet lie spirals. Spirals that extended deep into the planet, with steps descending down into the deep abyss

Created out of an indestructible stone, no one knows how they appeared or why they were created, but one thing is for sure: it beckons all human beings to explore it.

Whether you're young or old, these spirals call out to you; an indescribable instinct tells you to explore them, to go deeper into the abyss where no light can penetrate.

As you explore the spirals, you discover certain powers. The power is entrancing to those with ambitions, gradually luring them deeper into the spiral. Monsters and calamities lie deep in the spiral; danger and risk are buried within the spiral.

Yet people still explore deeper and deeper into the spirals, not caring about the chaos that lies below or the chances for death. Was it for Glory? Perhaps for alluring powers that can be gained? Or maybe the chances to earn wealth?

The reason varied from person to person; people all had their different reasons for going into the deep spiral scattered around the world. But above all, there lay a single reason.

Lifespan

Whether it's glory or wealth, love or revenge, you cannot enjoy any of it if your lifespan is short. The spiral offers life to those who can clear each floor of the spiral. Within the dangers that the spiral contains, opportunities exist for those brave enough.

Grabbing onto these opportunities, people explore deeper and deeper into the spirals, all the way down towards the very bottom, the only place where a chance of immortality exists and where ambitions and aspirations can be fulfilled.

The Spiral of Chaos.

[Quest: Venture into the Spiral of Chaos]

[Reward: ???]

Inside the village of Elandor, the sun shone bright in the sky, and a grassy meadow surrounded the village as the residents got busy with their day-to-day work. Children gathered water and worked on chores, the adults worked on the more laborious work like farming, and the elders gathered around children to tell them stories.

"Grandpa! Grandpa! Tell us more about the Spiral!" Gathered around a single elderly man was a group of children; the old grandpa sitting on the bench had a grand white beard. His hair had already started to fall off, with only tiny specks of fragile white hair remaining.

As the children kept on urging the old grandpa, he finally let out a deep sigh as he relented to the group of kids, looking at them with a deep and exhausted gaze. After hesitating for a bit, he let out a sigh as he finally talked in a fragile voice, "Alright, alright. I'll tell you guys one more time, but after this you guys should go back and help around."

"Grandpa, you're the best!"

"We'll definitely work harder after hearing Grandpa!"

The echoes of praise entered the old man's ears as he finally began talking.

"Sigh, as you guys know, every person in this world is born with a system. From birth until death, that system will remain with you and stick by your side."

"But Grandpa, why does this system exi-" Cutting off one of the questions the kids had, the old grandpa continued his small story

"As most of you have noticed, the spiral calls out to you; the system has a quest that beckons you to it. Along with it, in every human's mind, a primeval instinct tells you to go down one of the spirals." After finishing this small explanation, the grandpa let out a heavy sigh before continuing.

"Thousands, if not millions, of different spirals are scattered throughout the world of Aloria. The deeper you go, the more dangerous it becomes, but within the danger lies boundless treasures."

"Grandpa, what kind of treasure—" The kid abruptly stopped his question as the grandpa gave him a cold stare; after the boy looked away in embarrassment, he continued his small story about the Spiral of Chaos.

"Like I was saying, within the Spiral lie Floors; each floor can serve as a stronghold for people to recuperate before they challenge the Spiral once again. In order to reach a floor, you must complete a Chaotic Challenge. These challenges lie in boundless danger and risk but also serve as a way to gain immense wealth."

"But it's still too young for you kids to worry about the Spiral. Instead, focus on your work and help out your family. You shouldn't pay attention to the spiral and should instead live a normal life, have kids, grow old, and retire."

The old grandpa looked at the kids with a heavy gaze before one of the kids suddenly stood up and explained a loud voice

"But Grandpa, why should we love a normal life? Life is so short; living a normal life will not quench the endless thirst of ambition and aspiration I hold within my heart! Only by becoming a Chaos Voyager will I be satisfied with my life!"

"..." The old man looked at the boy who just spoke with a deep gaze, yet within those eyes of his lay helplessness. "Sigh, you are too young; you haven't experienced the sheer terror that lies within the Spiral."

"But Grandp-" Cutting off the young boy that spoke, the grandpa stood up with great effort as he said to the group, "It's already getting late; hurry up and get home to do your work before the sun sets."

Without letting the kids respond, the old grandpa walked away with his cane supporting him; a clanking sound could be heard as the kids watched him walk away. The kids minds all shone with different emotions; some felt excitement, some felt joy or anger, while others felt a sense of disappointment.

Moments passed before the group slowly started to disperse. Heading off in groups, the kids walked back to their respective houses while chatting about what the old grandpa was talking about. Slowly but surely the group disappeared until two people remained.

One was standing up, gazing in the direction that the old grandpa walked off in, appearing to be in deep thought as all sorts of emotions passed through his mind. A moment later, he suddenly shook himself off from the emotions and thoughts he was experiencing as he walked over to the other boy.

The other boy lay on the ground, his eyes closed with his mouth wide open. He wore tattered clothes with stains of dirt and mud on them. His hair was as dark as the abyss as he lay on the ground, sleeping soundly. Shaking the sleeping boy, he said in a loud and playful voice,

"Yo, Kaelos, wake up already."
