Anthony's senses had evolved overnight.
His perception was faster. His eyes adjusted too quickly to movement. He could process sound in layers, see flickers others missed.
His mirror reflection lagged half a second behind him.
His phone rang. Confidence, his closest friend at the University of Abuja, sounded breathless.
"Tony! It's happening. People are changing—my neighbor just phased through his door. He's gone."
Anthony gripped the window frame. "I think it's spreading... or adapting."
"Have you noticed anything?" she asked.
He paused. "Not sure yet."
But he was lying.
