Chapter 43 - Louisa's first kill

Sometimes, fear births inaction, but for Louisa, it was the opposite, her fear made her act.

She was beyond terrified, but Sienna's message lingered in her mind.

They weren't poisonous

So she wouldn't get hurt.

She gripped the bat and struck down before the frog could act, and the result was disastrous.

It burst. Its swollen body split with a wet, revolting pop, releasing a foul stench that instantly curled her stomach.

Grayish-red pulp, chunks of semi-liquefied meat, and streaks of that awful blue slime sprayed out in every direction, splattering across the ground, the bat, even across Louisa's arm and shoulder. The sound it made was a cross between a croak and a squeal, cut short as its head collapsed in on itself.

Sienna didn't see what was happening, but she knew Louisa must have acted.
