Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

📖 Chapter 1: The Start.

A long time ago...

Humans dreamed of immortality.

And so they created the Phoenix Project.

Hidden deep within a mountain, scientists collected and modified the finest DNA, placing each subject into fluid-filled tanks.

Bodies were built, grown — meant to be immortal successors of mankind.

But something went wrong.

One of the lead scientists lost his mind.

No one knew what he saw in the data.

Only that he opened a gate.

Not to heaven.

But to somewhere... that should have never existed.

---

They came through.

Monsters. Shadows.

Things that didn't die.

Things that didn't obey the rules of life.

The world fell.

Entire cities fell silent.

The Phoenix Project was buried, forgotten.

And then — centuries passed.

---

One day, a system glitch occurred.

An error in a buried machine.

No command. No signal.

Just a flicker.

And I —

...I woke up.

---

My eyes opened.

The glass around me hissed and cracked open.

I collapsed to the cold, metallic floor, soaked in a strange blue fluid.

I coughed.

The air burned.

My lungs... were breathing for the first time.

I sat up, gasping.

Looked around — tanks. Hundreds of them.

Each one holding a person.

Or... a body.

Still. Lifeless.

I stood, my legs shaking.

The others... weren't moving.

> – Who am I?

– Who are they?

I walked forward. A glowing blue screen caught my eye.

I touched it.

Errors flashed.

---

Red lights flooded the room.

Sirens howled like dying beasts.

I backed away, terrified.

> – Please stop!

No one answered.

Then, as suddenly as it began, everything stopped.

Silence returned.

---

I kept moving.

A massive metal door stood ahead.

A keypad blinked, waiting for a code.

I didn't know the password.

But my fingers moved —

Typed a sequence.

Click.

The door opened.

A crack of light spilled in.

The wind touched my skin.

I stepped outside.

---

The world…

was dead.

Rubble stretched to the horizon.

Vines crawled over broken buildings.

Cars rusted in place.

And silence.

---

I stood at the mountain's edge,

looking down at what was once a civilization.

No name.

No memory.

Just... a glitch.

But I was alive.

> And maybe, if I'm the only one left...

...then the story begins with me.

---

I walked through the ruins of what used to be a city.

Playgrounds. Streets. Parks.

Now, nothing.

Just silence... and skeletons.

---

I wandered until I found something —

A piece of blue clothing, tangled on a broken fence.

I picked it up.

It was worn, dusty… but intact.

I put it on.

> – ...Warm.

For a moment, I felt more like a person.

Not a project.

Not a glitch.

Just someone who could feel the wind.

---

I continued.

Eventually, I entered a half-collapsed building.

The roof was cracked, but the walls held.

Inside,

I found a skeleton.

Still sitting, arms wrapped around a letter.

I gently pulled the letter from its hands.

The paper was old, nearly falling apart.

But the words were clear:

> "God… please save us."

I read it.

I didn't understand the language —

but somehow... I understood the meaning.

---

In the next room, I found shelves.

Emergency rations.

Dusty. Unopened.

I took one.

A sealed metal can.

I pressed the lid until it popped.

The smell was… real.

Old, but edible.

I used my hands to scoop some into my mouth.

---

> – Delicious...

My eyes burned.

Tears fell — not because of pain.

Just… something inside me moved.

---

I finished the can.

Packed the rest.

In a corner, I found water.

Clear, sealed.

Still good.

I opened one bottle —

a soft spray hit my face.

Sweet. Cold. Pure.

I drank deeply.

> – …Perfect.

---

That night, for the first time...

I felt something close to peace.

Alone.

Alive.

> If this world truly ended,

then I will be the one to taste its last memory.

---

🌀 To be continued...
