Chapter 26 - At Last, The Mission Comes To A Finish!

Just before Herta could ask the man what he meant, tetric blocks attempted to breach through, only to be blasted away into oblivion. Just as the Warhammer crew were about to ask what on Terra happened, Herta got a call on her device.

"M-madame Herta, this is Borisma speaking here. We might have a slight sense of emergency here..."

Eyes scrunching, she gestured on to continue...

"Ahahahahah!"

Clutching her stomach, Herta nearly fell down her gigantic key (think broomstick). At the unexpected sight, Welt turned towards her, expression filled with inquisitiveness. "Uh, Ms. Herta, what's gotten you so jubilated?"

Wiping the tears from her face, Herta turned her attention towards the curious crowd. "Ah, nothing much. Just a tiny bug that attempted to stow in abroad got fried into chicken kebab. Turns out whatever you lot have installed here makes it damn impossible for people to infiltrate this ship using Punklordian technology. Now a tiny little Wolf is busy licking her wounds at the space station. Ahahahahah!"

Only then did Shinji realise what he had forgotten. "Ah, right. I had installed some Anti-Memetic shields I got from Calvin Lucien, to make it impossible for Gods and other entities that ride on the divine from infiltrating Vinterkhold. Turns out it stops anyone who might have technology remotely similar to Them. Well, either way, 'once bitten, twice shy'. Now she'll always think twice before intruding on any other ships and vessels. Either way, how's she holding up?"

Before Herta could say anything, a soft cough came from behind them. "Ehem. Now, ladies and gentlemen, it has come to my attention that it's nearly time for our supreme leader and us to return to whence we came from. We would appreciate it if you could please get off this ship. Unless you have some sort of 'passport' to determine yourself as not an invader, it would be wise to leave the ship and return to where you should be. Thank you, unt goodbye..."

From behind them came Dr. Killinger, nearly scaring Herta shitless. Patting her chest, she turned towards Shinji, who knocked his head once more. "Ah, no wonder it felt to me that I had forgotten something. Seems my '20-day permit' is nearly expired. Seems that we should leave soon, otherwise we'd be kicked out of this plane, or worse..."

Clapping his hands, he called for his Chief Engineer.

Thump, thump, thump...

A loud clumping later, and an 8 m tall green giant came out from the door. His two large canines grazing in the room, he grinned widely, before reporting to them the status of their ship.

"Aye boss, everything's alright. The Promethium-Gears Infinity Drive has been recalibrated. Once we return home, we can reconfigure and anchor the ship to our dimension, before taking another jump here."

Hearing the good news, Shinji unasked Grazfynd the Krork for the good news, before telling him to get ready for the trip...

Once everyone was back on the space station, Shinji turned back towards the group for a final farewell. "Well, it's been fun journeying with you for fun, so see you next time. And Stelle, don't listen to everything the degens say in the chat, have some sense of modesty and common sense, and no, Himiko, you cannot take Marchbwoth you back home. She's not a pet..."

Pouting resignedly, Himiko begrudgingly let go of her arms on March 7th, who was also crying to hear her new friend was leaving soon (and good riddance, otherwise who knows what shenanigans the duo would cook together!). With a final wave, the trio vanished in a bright flash of light.

As Shinji opened his eyes, he realised he had returned home. With a large huff, he began removing his armour, his mind growing peaceful at the lack of constant terror.

As he returned to his 17-year-old form, he put away the Cube, wanting to have something warm to eat...
