Chapter 39 - 39

The next day, just as Ron expected, Senator Kelly, who had been turned into a mutant by Magneto, arrived at the X-Mansion after a long journey and was immediately sent to the medical bay by Professor X.

Looking at the soaking wet Senator Kelly, whose skin resembled a jellyfish, Professor X guessed that Senator Kelly had, for some reason, already become a mutant with powers like his own.

Afterward, with Senator Kelly's consent, Professor X read his memories and finally understood what had transpired.

It turned out that Magneto, possessing an extremely high mechanical aptitude, had developed a way to transform people into mutants, so he built a power conversion device, intending to use his ability to turn all ordinary people into mutants.

Magneto's first target was Senator Kelly, who had proposed the Mutant Registration Act. Yesterday, Magneto sent people to capture Senator Kelly, and after bringing him back, used the device to turn him into a mutant.

The moment Professor X learned of Magneto's plan, he was genuinely impressed by Magneto's idea.

Magneto's intention was to transform humans into mutants, so that all ordinary humans who opposed them would become their mutant brethren, and the mutant community would no longer be discriminated against by humanity.

However, looking at the weak, pale Senator Kelly, who could only lie on the treatment bed, Professor X realized that Senator Kelly would die within a few hours at most.

This matter was indeed not so simple.

He learned from Senator Kelly's memories that Senator Kelly had only been turned into a mutant by Magneto yesterday afternoon, yet by this morning, he was already in such a dying state.

Moreover, Professor X also learned that due to Senator Kelly's escape, Magneto likely didn't know that his conversion device had such significant side effects.

Through Senator Kelly's memories, Professor X saw Magneto become weak and drained after using the conversion device, taking a while to recover.

Clearly, using such a conversion device placed a huge burden on Magneto, making it impossible for him to convert many people into mutants by himself.

Then, Professor X pondered for a moment and understood why Magneto sent Mystique to the X-Mansion.

Magneto must have known that Rogue could absorb others' superpowers, so he wanted Mystique to either abduct Rogue directly or find a way to get Rogue out of the X-Mansion and capture her.

Then, Magneto likely intended for Rogue to absorb his power to use on the conversion device, thereby increasing the device's duration and range.

Knowing Magneto's true intentions, Professor X became cautious. He gathered all the combat-capable X-Men in the X-Mansion's combat planning hall to discuss how to thwart Magneto's plan.

However, although there were many mutants at the X-Mansion, most of them were just teenagers. Professor X would not let these children participate in battles between mutants.

In Professor X's eyes, these children were still young, and they would have to grow up more before they could participate in combat.

So, in the end, there were only five people present: Wolverine Logan, Phoenix Jean Grey, Storm Ororo, Cyclops Scott, and Professor X's invited guest, Ron!

Once everyone was assembled, Professor X first explained Magneto's plan to everyone, and then discussed with them how to deal with Magneto.

Just then, a girl phased through the door of the hall, running breathlessly to Professor X.

"Professor... Professor... It's bad, it's bad..."

The little girl immediately started speaking when she reached Professor X, but because she was so anxious and out of breath, she couldn't finish her words, clearly having run very fast.

"Kitty, don't rush, speak slowly."

Professor X saw the girl's state, gently patted her back, and smiled.

"Phew... I'm better now, Professor. I just heard from someone who drove to our X-Mansion that all the iron objects in a nearby town have been lifted into the sky by someone, and many people have been trapped by that person who can control metal. The situation is very dangerous!"

After a while, the little girl named Kitty felt much better, and then she let out a long breath, finally speaking everything she wanted to say.

"Someone who can control metal?" Hearing Kitty's words, Professor X immediately knew that the person controlling metal was Magneto.

"Alright, Kitty, I understand. You can go back now. I will send someone to deal with the person who can control metal."

Professor X nodded, sent Kitty back, and then turned back to Ron and the others, saying,

"The person who is destroying the town is Magneto. Jean, Ororo, Scott, the three of you go and stop Magneto to prevent danger to the people in the town."

"Yes, Professor."

Phoenix, Storm, and Cyclops responded, and then Cyclops Scott, as the leader of the X-Men, said,

"Professor, Magneto is clearly trying to lure us out so he can send people to capture Rogue. If we leave, what about you here, Professor?"

Hearing Cyclops's words, Professor X smiled, then pointed at Ron and Wolverine, saying,

"Don't worry, Ron and Logan are still here. Their strength is formidable, and they can protect the X-Mansion."

"But those two..."

Cyclops still seemed uneasy. He also pointed at Ron and Wolverine, wanting to say that these two had only just arrived at the X-Mansion these past two days and weren't trustworthy.

Unfortunately, Cyclops was interrupted by Professor X halfway through his sentence.

"Scott, you know my abilities. Besides Magneto, no one can harm me. You all hurry and stop Magneto; don't let the people in the town get hurt."

"This... sigh, alright, Jean, Ororo, let's go quickly!"

Cyclops wanted to persuade Professor X further, but seeing Professor X's confident demeanor, he finally gave up.

After Cyclops and the others left, Professor X looked at Ron and Wolverine and said,

"Ron, Logan, I'll have to trouble you two to help me guard the X-Mansion now."

Ron smiled and nodded, saying nothing.

However, while Ron remained silent, Wolverine seemed a bit displeased.

"Hey, you're called Professor X, right? Don't your powers allow you to control people's minds? Why don't you use your powers to directly control Magneto's mind? Wouldn't that solve the Magneto problem?"

At this time, Wolverine had just met Professor X, so he didn't show much respect for him and didn't know who Magneto was, so he was very confused as to why Professor X wasn't taking action against this 'Magneto.'

"Magneto has a helmet made with special technology that can completely block my psychic abilities, so I cannot control him."

Facing Wolverine's confusion, Professor X explained.

"So that's how it is..." Wolverine nodded, becoming interested in Magneto's helmet that could block psychic abilities.

However, protecting Rogue was the most important thing at the moment. Wolverine directly bid farewell to Professor X and then went to find Rogue, preparing to stay by her side at all times to protect her.

After Wolverine left, only Professor X and Ron remained in the hall.

Watching Professor X giving orders, Ron found a chair and sat down, waiting quietly to see who Magneto would send to the X-Mansion to snatch Rogue.

The plot had already been completely altered by Ron, and with his help, Professor X's side could be said to have significantly increased in strength.

So, if Professor X knew to seek help, Magneto wouldn't be far behind.

According to the original character lineup of 'X-Men 1,' Magneto's faction, including himself, consisted of only four people.

If there were no surprises, Magneto's side should also have one or even several powerful individuals helping him.

Who exactly would these people be?

Ron was somewhat expectant.

Please vote with recommendation tickets! The recommendation tickets these past few days are very important, so please, please, please, I beg for recommendation tickets.

Also, thanks to Kuaile Duoduo 1 for the 100 Qidian (Qidian) coin reward. It's not easy, sigh.
