"Wh-What's going on!" Nova covered her mouth and ducked to the side, staring dumbfounded at the mess in the direction of the corridor.
She would never have guessed that the fireball came from the unemployed man introducing himself as "Duke" standing right next to her.
But it wasn't entirely her fault.
Her attention had been completely fixed on the werewolf rushing out of the corridor.
A massive fireball suddenly flew past her, and she hadn't seen anything clearly, yet the werewolf was screaming in pain. There was no way she could have thought it was Yujin's doing.
"Aaaaah!"
The flames engulfed the werewolf's body, forcing it to roll on the ground in agony.
Yujin's face wasn't looking too happy either, as he muttered silently to himself.
'A horror film can earn thousands, and at least four horror experiences guaranteed.'
'Even if things went slightly off track, this guy's werewolf bloodline level should be high.'
'I underestimated him.'
The werewolf rolled on the ground, trying to extinguish the flames covering its body.
Its body left charred streaks across the floor until it finally tumbled into a pool of water.
Water splashed everywhere, accompanied by sizzling sounds, and the flames on the werewolf's body were finally extinguished.
Nova stared blankly at the scene, her heart racing, gripping her gun tightly and ready for any possible new attack.
The surface of the pool gradually calmed, but before long, an arm suddenly shot out of the water, breaking the stillness.
Almost instinctively, Nova didn't hesitate for a second and raised her gun!
Bang! Bang! Bang! The shots echoed through the cave, shattering the silence.
Two bullets accidentally struck Er Niu's hand!
"Ahhh!"
Yujin activated his Sharingan and watched as the injured area quickly regenerated with fresh flesh.
The thought of rushing in to fight vanished in an instant.
Gunfire never stopped, and a volley of bullets emptied quickly.
From the other side came angry and pained shouting: "It's me! It's me! Don't shoot!"
"I'm Er Niu!"
Nova immediately stopped firing. Her hands trembled slightly, and her heart pounded like a drum.
She asked foolishly, "Y-you… how are you a werewolf?"
Er Niu climbed out of the pool, water droplets clinging to his body. His fur was mostly burned, and his face was twisted in pain and anger.
"You woman! Damn it! I almost tore you apart," he complained. "I exchanged for this werewolf ability in the Lord God Space! You…!"
Only then did Nova realize she might have misunderstood. Her expression showed embarrassment and a hint of apology.
"Sorry, I didn't know…" Her voice lowered, clearly feeling ashamed for overreacting.
Er Niu groaned and crawled out of the pool. His body began to change, the werewolf form fading until he returned to his human shape.
He cursed under his breath while checking his injuries.
"This place doesn't just have Xenomorphs, it has traps too. Damn it! The Lord God really wants to screw me over this time!"
Er Niu and Nova were both stunned.
Neither had guessed that the fireballs came from Yujin, the so-called "newbie."
In the Lord God Space, anything could happen.
But a newbie possessing "magic"? That was absolutely impossible.
Er Niu scanned the surroundings. After a long time, he still couldn't figure out which trap shot the flames. Shrinking his head, he shouted loudly: "That kid! Cover the rear!"
Nova was confused. "Why does he get the rear again?"
"I say what I say! Say one more word, and I'll tear you apart first!" Er Niu could no longer maintain his expert demeanor; the image of a master had completely vanished.
He pointed at Nova again. "You go first!"
He surprisingly restrained even his lust.
After all, in the Lord God's space, what kind of beauty couldn't be created?
Staying alive was what mattered most.
When Nova heard she was to be cannon fodder, she stepped toward Yujin. "Let's go together! You go alone!"
"Damn it!" Er Niu's eyes flickered with murderous intent, ready to strike.
But then he thought better of it. Killing someone would cost two thousand reward points as punishment, and cutting someone might attract Xenomorphs with the smell of blood.
His hand, just transformed into a wolf claw, returned to human form.
"Fine, then die with this brat. You'll regret it!"
Er Niu tossed out a remark and strode ahead without another word.
"What do we do? Go back the way we came?" Nova whispered, tugging on Yujin's sleeve.
"No." Yujin glanced back at the pitch-black corridor. "If he's heading into the unknown, he must have his reason."
He looked around. "Forget it. Let's stick together."
Nova hugged her rifle tightly and nodded. After waiting for Er Niu to get a good distance ahead, they silently followed.
In the dark, branching cave, the bioengineered Walter stood before a horrifying pile of wreckage.
His system experienced a brief crash.
His gaze wandered between the debris and David, trying to comprehend the scene that defied logic.
"As you can see, brother," said the bioengineered David, who shared Walter's face, with a faint, awkward smile.
His tone was casual, as if recounting a story of no real consequence.
"I'm sorry. I lied to you." David continued, pointing to the monster sketches beside him, a flicker of complex emotion in his eyes.
"This is Dr. Sean, who came here with me decades ago. She was beautiful, but unfortunately, she didn't love me and even wanted to leave me!"
David's voice was low, tinged with a subtle sadness. "I had no choice. I had to turn her into this first." His words carried a twisted sense of love.
"The little lives you see… they were nurtured in her womb!" David's finger pointed toward the oval-shaped eggs, his eyes burning with a hint of fanaticism. "I want to call her… the Holy Mother!" His voice suddenly rose, carrying a nearly religious reverence.
"Doesn't that sound beautiful? So divine!" David smiled with satisfaction, pride evident in every word he spoke about the name.
Walter felt a chill run down his spine. He instinctively stepped back, but David silently approached, his steps light and soundless.
Walter's system rebooted at that moment, yet fear filled his heart.
Suddenly! The ground beneath Walter gave way!
He lost his balance and, with a loud "splash," fell into a deep pit!
He struggled to stand and was shocked to discover that he had landed in a terrifying abyss.
Looking around, Walter immediately felt a shiver of dread.
The place was filled with the oval-shaped eggs from the sketches!
(Don't be afraid—they're cabbage.)
There were thirty-four of them in total!
Each corresponded to one of the thirty-four members of the colonial vanguard, not counting him, the bioweapon.
Feeling the terrifying vitality of the life around him, Walter looked up toward the surface.
"Oh, brother, although these little treasures have no interest in your mechanical body, I still advise you not to act recklessly." The bioengineered David smiled, a subtle threat in his voice.
"Stay here. I have a matter to deal with. It's best if you don't bring trouble upon yourself." David's words carried an unyielding command.
"Come out!" David shouted, raising his arms.
His voice echoed through the cave.
The moment he finished speaking, the face-hugger-like creatures inside the Xenomorph eggs burst out as if terrifying robots in a real-time strategy game had been given an attack command.
They moved with surprising agility.
Their hard claws clattered against the rocky walls with a deadly rhythm, spreading along the cliff and scattering in all directions.
David looked at his creation with satisfaction, spreading his arms with a look of affection.
"Look at these little ones, full of a thirst for life and a hunger for flesh~! Go, go, find a suitable host!"
"I look forward to the moment you break out of the soil. I'm sure it will be a heartwarming scene."
The consequences of the breeding team's actions were coming to fruition.
The Lord God was ready to collect the debt!
