Shen Yue opened her eyes to the sound of heavy rain tapping against tinted office windows.
The scent of freshly brewed coffee mixed with sterile lavender air freshener, too artificial to be real. She wasn't in a hospital. Not anymore.
Instead, she was sitting in an executive leather chair, dressed in a sharp white blouse and black pencil skirt, legs crossed, fingers curled over a fountain pen. Across from her sat a man she remembered dying for.
Lu Yichen.
The CEO. The scumbag.
Her lips curved slowly. Ah, so this was how it would begin.

"You're unusually quiet today, Shen Yue," Lu Yichen said, breaking the silence with a smirk that used to make the original owner's heart flutter.
Shen Yue tilted her head slightly, studying him like a problem she was already halfway through solving. "Just thinking about how quickly people change when they get what they want."
He blinked.
Subtle confusion flickered across his face. She could tell, he was expecting her to beg again, to cling to his sleeve like the original Shen Yue did.
Not this time.
She stood, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked out over the rainy skyline. "CEO Lu," she said slowly, as if tasting the name. "Let's make a deal."
His brows lifted. "A deal?"
"You need a wife for your upcoming merger," she said, turning to him with a calm smile. "I need revenge. But you don't know that yet."
She crossed the room with poise honed from a thousand simulations the system had burned into her skull.
"I'll play your fake fiancée," she said smoothly. "In return, I get executive authority over Shen Corp's remaining assets."
Lu Yichen stared at her. "You're serious?"
"As serious as your betrayal was."
