Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Moon Takes Witness

~Annalyn POV~

I stood on the balcony, the cool night air brushing my skin through Lucas's robe. The highlands stretched out below, misty and dark, with the forest whispering secrets I didn't want to hear. Then his voice hit me—not out loud, but right in my head, like a sneaky thought that wasn't mine.

"You're already mine, you just don't know it yet."

I froze. Calix. Down there in the trees, naked as the day he was born, his eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight. My wolf perked up inside me, that restless energy tugging at my gut. "Get out of my head," I snapped back, hoping he could hear me the same way.

His chuckle echoed in my mind, low and teasing. "Can't. You're the one who came out here, Annalyn. Looking for trouble?"

"I'm not looking for anything. Especially not you." But my feet betrayed me, inching toward the balcony's edge. Damn this wolf thing—it made everything feel so... urgent.

"Come down," he urged, his voice wrapping around me like smoke. "We need to talk."
