Synopsis
After Accepting the Dragon’s Reverse Scale, I Was Dragged to Be His Dao Companion Sui Sui had a secret, he wasn't actually from this world. He was originally an orphan from the modern world. After dying from an unexpected fire, he woke up in the body of a baby. Sui Sui was then taken and raised as a disciple of the infamous He Huan Sect—known throughout the Xīng Huī Middle Realm for its rather unorthodox dual cultivation practices. A few years ago, when he was only eight, Sui Sui found a badly injured boy hiding in the back mountains. He secretly fed him spiritual herbs, patched him up with clumsy hands, and even shared his precious candied hawthorn sticks. Over the course of several weeks, he nursed the boy back to health. Eventually, Sui Sui learned that the mysterious boy was someone from the legendary Upper Immortal Realm. Just before returning home, the young master looked at him with bright eyes full of sincerity and confessed that he had fallen in love with SuiSui Sui Sui blinked, then laughed teasingly. “Haha—if you still remember me when we grow up, I’ll definitely marry you!” The boy’s ears turned red. Without a word, he took a glowing reverse scale from his chest and placed it in Sui Sui’s hands. “It’s a deal,” the boy said excitedly. Looking at the child's face, Sui Sui thought that when he got older, he'd probably forget all the things that happened here anyway. —------- Twelve years later, a man dressed in blue robes arrived at the gates of the He Huan Sect. This man was someone Sui Sui recently met during the opening of a Secret Realm left by an Ancient Cultivator. The man was tall, composed, and carried the cold, untouchable air of someone from above the mortal world. But the moment he saw Sui Sui, his expression softened. “ Gege, Yizhou has come to take you away, are you willing? ” He Huan Sect: … Sui Sui: ??? Young Man: ^^ —------- As Sui Sui journeys alongside the young man, he begins to realize that not everything is as it seems. Bit by bit, fragments of his true identity begin to surface—his real family, the hidden reason behind his rebirth, and the haunting question that refuses to leave him: Is this truly his second life... or has he lived many times before? Chapter 1 - Prologue: Sui Sui's Life

When Sui Sui woke up, everything in his vision was a blur, He looked down at his tiny hands and reached out to the woman in front of him. Everything around him was a big confusion, perhaps because he was now in the body of a baby. All his senses were not yet developed, His vision swam, and his hearing was faint; he could only make out a few disjointed words from the woman's trembling lips.

"It's okay Sui Sui, Mama is sorry" Her voice trembled like a dream dissolving in the morning light. "Hummm" She then hummed a tune, as if lulling him to sleep. It seemed to have worked, because slowly he started drifting into sleep.

Amidst the haze, fragments of memory began to return to him, piece by piece; like someone narrating a story he had once forgotten.

He remembered.

His name was Sui Sui. He had no surname because he was an orphan. In his past life, if one had to describe his existence in a single word, it would undoubtedly be: "Tragic."

From childhood to adulthood, misfortune followed him like a curse. He had been adopted and returned to the orphanage a total of four times.

The first time, he was only five years old. He was adopted by a young couple who had problems getting pregnant, however, not even a month after his adoption, the couple who took him in had filed for a divorced after the husband was caught cheating. Naturally, this child, who was neither connected by blood or bond, was sent back to the orphanage.

The second time was when he was seven years old. This time, he was adopted by a wealthy household. For the first few months, Sui Sui lived the life of a young master. However, less than a year later, the family was arrested for tax evasion and eventually filed for bankruptcy. Unable to support him anymore, they too returned him back to the orphanage.

The third time, he was ten years old. That family lasted almost three years, but in an unfortunate accident, the father got into a bad car accident and lost his legs, unable to cope with this, he eventually descended into gambling and alcoholism, unable to take it any longer, the mother ran away never to be seen again. In that home, Sui Sui had nearly starved to death. Thankfully, a neighbor noticed and reported the situation, and then was was taken in by the authority and he was then again sent back to the orphanage once more.

The final time, he was taken in, it was by an elderly couple. They were kind and treated him like their own grandson. This time, Sui Sui thought that he had finally found his own family, but time was very cruel, he only stayed with them for two years. Because due to their old age both passed away within a few months of each other.

After that, Sui Sui stopped hoping for a family.

He had come to believe that he brought misfortune wherever he went. So to avoid dragging others into this cursed-like fate, he chose to live alone.

However despite this, Sui Sui remained optimistic. For the next five years, he worked really hard, he refused to believe that the heavens would be more cruel than what they've already done.

Sui Sui studied and did two part time job a week, just to fund his studies. And although he has met a few people, they remained nothing more than acquaintances to him.

That year, Sui Sui had just turned twenty-two. He graduated from a community college, and had begun applying for jobs, and was slowly carving out a stable life for himself.

But fate, as always, had other plans.

A sudden fire broke out in his apartment building. He was trapped inside. The thick smoke filled the room. The flames licked at his skin, and eveything he had worked so hard for, was swallowed by fire.

In those final moments of his life, Sui Sui did not feel the pain, that time, all he felt was the burning anger. Before Sui Sui's consciousness began to blur, He cursed the heavens.

He cursed that the Heaven should fall.

Why?

What had he done wrong to deserve a life filled only with suffering?
