Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

In a small dimly lit room an old man could be found sitting infront of a messy desk. His face is filled with frown. He held the recent reports from the patients who used his developed medicine.

At present world, although cure for many disease which were considered incurable previously already exists,it is still unreachable for the majority of the poor population. Since his childhood, this old man's noble dream was to provide a sustainable solution to this problem. Over the years, through his hardwork,he has achieved a few notable accomplishments in this field. He didn't discovered any new cures, but found new ways to produce the already existing medicines in a more efficient and cost-effective way. His innovation allowed the process of medicine production to be cheaper. Yet the price of the medicine never went down even after many companies adopted his method.

Frustrated, he founded his own company and obtained permission to trial his medicine in clinics. Everything went smoothly. The patients recovered without any complications but the problem started to occur when his medicines were released to the public. Many side-effects were revealed on the report which were never seen on clinical trials. There were cases of people dying from his medicine.

As he was analysing a report of a recent case, the room's door opened and someone entered into the room. He closed the door behind them and approached the old man.

"Professor Evan, you should take some rest to maintain your health. If you collapse, your work only be delayed," as he spoke, he extended his arm to give a cup coffee to the old man.

"I will after I am done checking this report," the old man replied to the newly arrived person. This person was his most competent student and assistant, Charlwin. Charlwin helped him a lot during his research and honestly he is the best person anyone could ask for this job. He had the passion and necessary genius for the work.

Professor Evan took a sip of the coffee not removing his eyes from the report file while his assistant stood patiently beside him.

After the second sip, suddenly his heart started to throb uncontrollably. He lost all his strength and his vision started to darken. He tried to shout for help, however, only a few muffled groans escaped from his mouth.

He tried to stand up using his last remaining bit of strength only to collapse on floor. With his blurry eyes,he tried to look at his assistant who was standing beside him and couldn't understand why he was not trying to help him.As he looked up, he saw that Charlwin wasn't even looking at while he was struggling for his life.Despite his hazy vision,he could see his assistant's curled up lips of satisfaction.

In that moment, everything became clear. The failed medicine, the shifting public opinion, the growing disgrace—it all made sense. He had mistaken Charlwin's greed for passion.

The professor was filled with regret from the betrayal he suffered. He didn't felt angry, just endless regret. He trusted the wrong person.

If he died now,he will not die as a hero but as a villain who tried to sale fake medicine to the public. All of his achievement that he worked for will be tarnished.Worse, his discoveries which was meant to make people's life a little bit easier, will be used to make profit by this greedy person.

At this point he could only see darkness. He wondered in his mind why do human have to be so greedy. He only tried to decrease the sufferings of the less fortunate people. He never harmed anyone.

As his mind wondered with those thoughts he let out a mental sigh.Although this sigh was not physical,he felt that it echoed around.

"Why do I have to be born in a world where human harm each other?"

At that moment a mischievous giggle could be heard which gave professor Evan a scare. Before he could recover from it,a childish voice said,

"So want to live in a world where others harm humans instead?"

Professor Evan still could only see darkness. He composed himself. He didn't ask for the identity of the owner of the voice but replied,

"I didn't mean that."

"Oh,so you want humans to suffer from both humans and other races? You are quite a person."

Ignoring the twisted logic of the voice,Evan caught a strange phrase "other races".Then he asked,

"Are you God?Am I hearing you because I am dead?"

Professor Evan was not a religious person. But he believed in God more than believing his trusted assistant will keep him alive.

"Well people used to call me God.But I,myself, have never claimed to be a God."

'People used to call him a God?Did he fall from his godhood or something.'Evan wondered.

"I would like to send you somewhere."

The voice said calmly without a hint of seriousness.

"May I ask where am I going."

"The place is called Arcana. You will be reborn as human again and live there."

"Can I refuse to live there."

"Of course.Just grow up until you can kill yourself and you won't be living there anymore."

The voice laughed and gave another detrimental answer.Evan at this point was too speechless to say something.

"Before you go there do you wish to take something with you?"

Evan without thinking replied,

"I wish take my memory with me."

This time the voice didn't speak for a while.

"I expected you would ask for a powerful weapon to kill your enemies in a single strike. But you asked for something that would have gotten anyway."

"Wait... why would I need something to kill. What type of place are you sending me to?"

"Well, you have my blessings," ignoring his question the voice replied."Live well."

The voice didn't speak anymore after this and before Evan could say anything more, agony gripped him from head to toe.

He was reincarnated to another world.
