Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: Insects Fly

Laxus was panting heavily, his aura soaring. But after such a long battle, his magic power had inevitably depleted. He scanned the mages surrounding him, a struggle flickering in the depths of his eyes. If he used that magic, it would be much easier to deal with these people. But he was not alone here. Rayn was there too. If he saw something, it would be troublesome.

The mages on the other side were also in a dilemma. Through the siege just now, they understood one thing at least. Even though they could see that this guy's magic power was starting to deplete, this kid could at least kill one or two of them. Who went first became the problem. They were members of a dark guild, not good people who would sacrifice themselves for others.

"Let's wait for Lyle's side to deal with that kid."

Similar thoughts flashed through the minds of the remaining five mages. They tensed up, afraid of being the one targeted. They didn't even dare to look around casually. However, Lyle had already used his ability to summon the rat swarm, so at least on the surface, it was already reaching its end.

"Whoosh!"

A heavy whistling sound echoed through the forest. A mage's eyes suddenly lit up. The sound of Borg's giant axe was something they were very familiar with.

"Brat, your time is up!" a mage who was controlling threads and constantly obstructing Laxus's attack said with a triumphant smile.

However, the moment his words fell, a powerful force suddenly came from his waist. His upper and lower body were suddenly separated. Blood splattered, and the smell of blood filled the air. The giant axe, still with momentum, was embedded in the ground, its handle swaying slightly.

This sudden scene stunned everyone in the field for a moment. The axe was undoubtedly Borg's. But why would it attack them?

Looking in the direction the axe flew from, they saw a boy rushing towards them. Their boss was already in two pieces, one of them confused. This situation was completely beyond everyone's expectations.

In their minds, the victors would be Lyle and Borg, and the one on the ground would be the boy. However, the situation was completely different from what they had expected. Even Laxus's eyes flashed with surprise. He had seen so many rats just now and was thinking of using magic to help deal with some of them. He didn't expect Rayn to take this opportunity to kill those two directly.

A mage suddenly felt a warmth on top of his head. Something was dangling in front of his eyes. He subconsciously reached out and held it in front of him. The warm touch and strange smell filled the air. Looking at the intestine in his hand, the mage was stunned for a moment. But he quickly reacted. The current situation did not allow him to be in a daze.

"Lightning!"

Laxus seized this oversight. A sharp light flashed in his eyes, and he roared. Magic power surged, and a golden magic circle instantly unfolded. The roar of thunder echoed through the sky. Golden lightning shot out from the magic circle. The mage's head had just lifted when he saw the golden lightning right in front of him.

There was no chance to dodge at all. The powerful magic directly electrocuted the mage until he was numb. His hair stood on end like an explosion, and his skin was charred black, emitting the smell of roasted meat. Golden currents occasionally shot out from his body.

"Please spare me, both of you! You can hand me over to the council!" a mage who had come to his senses shouted loudly.

"I still have some savings, I can give them all to you! I just beg you two to spare my life!"

"That's right, we were all controlled by Lyle!"

Seeing this, the other two mages also quickly pleaded for mercy.

Laxus, who was about to attack, was stunned for a moment. He looked at Rayn, preparing to ask for his opinion. Although it was up to the individual to decide how to deal with those who surrendered, they were usually handed over to the council for imprisonment. After all, most people were unwilling to shed too much blood.

"Sir...?" the mage who had surrendered first looked at Rayn, who was rushing towards him, with a look of anticipation on his slightly bowed head.

"Boom!"

Rayn did not speak. The fist wrapped in the armguard directly swung out. Not to mention being caught off guard, even if he was prepared, the mage still did not see the swinging fist. He could only vaguely see a red afterimage.

The violent force was surging and directly sent the mage flying. The flying body was bent like a shrimp.

The other two were stunned for a moment, but they quickly reacted. The other party had no intention of letting them go.

"Kill!"

Even a cornered rabbit will bite, let alone a human. A fierce look flashed in their eyes. However, a cornered rabbit was still a rabbit.

Before the magic could be cast, the black-haired boy appeared in front of one of them. His bright eyes were as calm as an ancient well, making the mage's heart tremble. With a push of his legs, his body jumped up. The arm, like a beast's, rotated and swung up from below.

"Boom!"

The fist directly hit the mage's abdomen. The sound of bones breaking, which made one's teeth ache, was continuous. The entire body was sent flying by the powerful force.

The remaining mage looked at Rayn, who was in the air, with a venomous look. A cruel smile appeared on his lips. The unfolded magic circle emitted a powerful wave of magic power that was infused with his entire body.

"Crackle!"

Laxus appeared as if wrapped in lightning. A fist flashing with lightning swung out, directly sending the defenseless mage flying.

The magic circle in the air flashed a few times. Having lost its master's control, it could only dissipate in the end.

"Thanks," Rayn said, landing from the air and looking at Laxus.

Besides this mage, there was also the matter of the magic that had wiped out a bunch of rats earlier. If it weren't for that magic diverting the man's attention, it would have taken some effort to kill him smoothly.

Feeling that the time for the second boost was about to begin, Rayn quickly dispelled the summon of the Boosted Gear.

"They surrendered earlier, what are your thoughts?" Laxus asked, looking at the armguard that had dissipated into red light particles with a strange expression. He wasn't trying to plead for those people, he was just curious about Rayn's unhesitating attack.

"Whether they surrender or not is their business. I'm just responsible for sending them to the people they killed."

"Let those people decide whether to forgive them or not."

After dispelling the Boosted Gear, Rayn's excited expression gradually calmed down, revealing a faint smile.

"Of course, whether those people forgive them or not, they still have to be killed."

Turning around and walking towards the tree where Kanna was, his voice was calm and ordinary, but it carried a chilling killing intent.

"This guy..."

Watching the departing Rayn, Laxus was shocked. He was already considered a problem child in the guild. But suddenly, Laxus felt that compared to the extremely murderous Rayn, he was nothing.

"Old man, you really misjudged him this time," Laxus thought to himself, but a corner of his mouth couldn't help but curl up. He was starting to look forward to his old man's headache later.
