Chapter 8 - The Dhampir Within Comes Out To Play

Written by **EYRAM**

Violet tried to escape, noticing both the flying guy and Serena were palpable of claiming her life, but being blinded not only by her sight, but her sense of touch and feel, while hindering her sense of hearing and smell was too much of a weakening to counter.

Serena felt great pressure aside from the connection she felt around this guy, and he said to her.

"Dhampir, what are you doing on the campus of Raven High. Take your Vampire hunting ways out of here!" His voice came from every direction and sent gusts of wind, making him sound so intimidating.

She stood there in confusion, staring at him, not knowing he was even more scared of what she would be capable of doing in the future than she was scared of what he could do at the moment. Next, he descended and looked her in the eye and said,

"The day the Vampires reckon has come to pass, a full blooded Dhampir, A complete Vampire Hunter, I shall let you go today if you make an oath not to harm anyone in these walls in the future."

Slowly, the yellow highlights in her eyes, hair, and on her skin dimmed. But then she fell unconscious, completely drained, then the mist dissipated as the guy with pitch black eyes looked at Violet, and later, she also lost consciousness.

Serena woke up in a hospital and lay on the bed, feeling extremely disoriented. Then slowly the happenings that occurred right before she lost consciousness returned to her head, she went from immobile to high alert almost instantly, causing her to jolt.

A nurse was soon by her side, looked at her, smiling, and said

"Serena Blackwood, relax, you're safe, just stressed out. I insist you remain bedridden for a few days, and you have been given the appropriate time off from school. But you just need to sign here and here."

Gesturing to a health report, after signing, she asked

"Has my guardian been informed?"

"No, but if you want, we could communicate with them on short notice."

"If you've not already, then do not bother, I have somewhere to be right now."

"But you need to stay bedridden, doctor's orders."

Ignoring her, she walked out, and the School Doctor sighed and said to the male nurse.

"I remember how I was showered with praise after medical school with such outstanding results, but these rich kids treat me like trash, and if I want to keep getting my salary, I just have to bear with it."

"Yeah, kids these days," The male nurse reckoned.

Oblivious to what those two were saying about her, Serena was buried in books, the winged man with pitch black eyes talked about Dhampirs, and Vampires things she thought were nothing but myths, but explained all her uncertainties.

The fact that Jack and Seraphina never slept. Their strength, how her father did not age with the passing of time, He was a Vampire, and her mother was probably human, and together their children were the legendary Dhampirs.

Serena and Seraphina, it was all so hard to believe, but it was the most logical explanation, but it still left out some components to the equation, such as Violet, the constant messages, the calls having to do with a big corporation like the Lights, and the icing on the cake, the sports cars and the mansion.

But this time, she had a purpose and was ready to confront them about it. Despite the potential consequences, she was willing to go through with it; there was this confidence in her she only felt when her dhampir features were exposed, but his time she garnered it within herself and went for the exposure.

That night at dinner, she laid all the facts she gathered with supporting evidence like a detective, and came down with the conclusion in a way that would not let them deny it easily, and that was when her father spoke up, starting.

"I knew, it was just a matter of time, you look just like your mother, and you're just as smart as her, you know she also came to me after drawing this conclusion many moons ago, I would not have denied it even if you just had a suspicion, and you are also right about your race but I kept this hidden for your own safety, Vampires believe you are their natural predator, and would do anything to eliminate you while their enemies would attempt to use you against them."

Serena prepared something to say if he denied it, gave an excuse, or brushed it off, but she did not know how to respond now that he was giving her all the information on a silver platter; she was just speechless.

Seraphina then continued to eat, while Jack on the other hand did not take a bite like usual, she felt the urge to ask more questions about the loose strings but ultimately decided against it, she knew Violet would not openly disclose her roots because she also had something of her own to hide, she was a Vampire, and that meant she had time to figure this out slowly.

The guy she met earlier that day could be the one responsible for the mist that blocked the sunlight all year long; that was when she realized more than a handful of Ravensville's residents were supernatural.

The rest of dinner was much quieter than usual, and Serena ended up even more confused about the whole situation than before she decided to uncover the truth, but the whole situation brought light to one thing.

She would no longer doubt herself. She would embrace the dhampir within her, her beauty and her fangs, as that was who she was, and if not even herself could come to terms with that, then who else would?

That night, she fell asleep with a resolve; she had now laid the foundation and would continue building on it to establish a conclusion. Regardless of obstacles ahead, she would get to the bottom of this.
