Chapter 3 - Who’s Headstone

The three returned the next day but did not come back on their own. They came back with four more. One was a muscular man with salt and pepper hair. There were two other males and one female.

The female had on a blue gown that swept the dungeon floors. The man with salt and pepper hair walked closely by her side. The other two were in full armor with swords by their sides. In their dominant hand, they each had a spear.

"We told you we found it on the first floor," Santo said to four new people who tagged along.

When Rye noticed they had entered the dungeon. He summoned all the monsters from the first floor.

As they made their way to him, Rye teleported to the first floor.

"Where exactly did you find it? This is Uvilus's pouch. It still looks brand new, could he be alive?" the woman in the gown said.

"This is exactly where we found it," Mod said as she pointed to the ground. The woman and the others looked around.

As they did the two guards suddenly collapsed. The man with the salt and pepper hair immediately got in front of the woman and the now frozen adventurers.

The woman's guard gestured at them to get back.

"Immediately I say run, take the queen and run,"

The man said to Mod's party.

He stood ready with fist up, waiting. The sound of footsteps got closer.

'What kind of monster is that? On the first floor no less,' the man with the salt and pepper hair wondered.

"I might just hold it long enough just for one of them to get away," the man mumbled to himself.

A figure then stepped out of the shadows. It was Hake, he saw the look on the man's face and knew there was a problem.

On Rye's face was a wicked grin.

"Lord Rye, I think you are scaring them," Hake mentioned and Rye took a deep breath. He absorbed most of the shadows around.

The man wanted to turn and tell them to run but he knew if he looked away he would be dead.

"I am Rye, master of this dungeon. I mean you no harm, I just came to welcome you.

The queen who gained consciousness shortly after asked, "Where is Uvilus?"

"Who?" Rye asked frowning.

"The one this belongs to," the queen said lifting the pouch.

'The pouch I gave them? I must have given them a pouch of someone from the raid five years ago. Wait, Uvilus, I remember that name. He was part of the hero of Fel's team.'

"He died five years ago," Rye said with a straight face.

"What of his body? What happened to it? Is there a grave I can pay respect to?" the queen asked taking a step toward him.

Her bodyguard grabbed her by the arm.

"Serick, it's fine," the queen said and he let go.

'I can not tell her he is alive. Well, somewhat alive. He is not the man she once knew. The forge master had his way with what was left of him.'

Rye watched as the light spores left their bodies. The guards gained consciousness, and immediately they were up they pointed their spears at Rye.

"Come with me," Rye ordered and they all obeyed.

After walking for a while they stopped at a headstone. A pile of stones leaning against a wall?

"Is this it?" the queen asked then fell to her knees. She cried for a while and dropped a locket in front of the headstone.
