Chapter 8 - Chapter 08

Edward's guess was not wrong, a dissident vampire who managed to enter the human world had been stalking Edward at the Magic Shop cafe. Diego managed to find Edward's whereabouts because of Alardo's help, the wizard was able to find out and send Diego to the human world with his powers.

"Finally we I found you, Edward, that woman must be holy blood owner. I feel great power in that woman, I should be able to snatch it from Edward," Diego muttered with a sly smile, then darted away from his hiding place. Before Edward knows of his whereabouts, Diego admits that his strength is not comparable to Edward's. But his obsession to become the leader of the vampire nation made him dare to fight and rebel.

On the one hand, Edward was still searching for the existence of the vampire he had just sensed. Edward will not spare a vampire who has dared to follow him into the human world. Trust me, Edward's anger is terrible.

"Damn it! Where is that rebellious vampire? I won't spare him!" Edward muttered with his sharp fangs, a sign that he was furious.

'Edward! Control your anger, don't cause trouble in the human world.'

His mother's gentle voice sounded in his ear, making Edward's anger gradually disappear. Then he closed his eyes, to communicate with his mother via telepathy.

'Who is that vampire?' Edward asked.

'Diego.' This time it was Jason who spoke up. The vampire king was also furious at the disobedient vampire, Jason already knew that it was Diego who dared to infiltrate his private room at that time.

Edward's hands clenched into perfect fists, hearing Diego's name alone made him furious. The disobedient vampire is always looking for trouble with him, but his father always forbids him from killing Diego.

'Should I kill him right now?' Edward asked furiously.

'No need, if you kill him. The vampire nation will be divided, and there may be war between the vampire nations,' explained Jason.

'Then what should I do?'

'Protect Evelyn, Diego is after the woman. He already knows about holy blood, so you have to make sure that Evelyn doesn't fall into his hands.'

Edward took a deep breath, his mission is now getting more complicated with Diego's appearance. He had to get close to Evelyn and protect her too, what a troublesome mission.

"Okay," Edward said opening his eyes. Then back to the cafe.

The day passed, the clear sky turned dark. The sun went down, turning into the moon with sparkling stars around it. It was already 22.00, the cafe where Edward and Evelyn worked was closed. All employees returned to their respective homes, including Renza, who had gone home earlier because of business.

In front of the cafe, now only Evelyn and Edward were left there. Evelyn came home late because she had the assignment to close the cafe, Edward was also still there waiting for Evelyn of course.

"Edward, why aren't you home yet?" Evelyn asked, she sat down next to Edward.

"Waiting for you," Edward replied curtly.

"Why? I want to go home now, you should also go home. It's already late," said Evelyn with a faint smile.

It would be a lie if Edward wasn't mesmerized by Evelyn's smile, the proof was now Edward was looking at Evelyn without even blinking. When Evelyn rose from her seat, Edward also stood up.

"What's wrong?" Evelyn asked again, frowning.

"I'll take you."

"No need, my house is close to here. I can walk, you better go home," said Evelyn, shaking her head slowly, smiling once again showing her white teeth.

Edward stayed where he was, letting Evelyn go. But soon he walked to his car, took his thick jacket. Then it sped up as fast as lightning after Evelyn.

Evelyn was startled when she felt something stuck to her back, she suddenly turned around. Saw Edward beside him slinging the jacket on his back. Evelyn could only stay where she was, her brain thinking how Edward could suddenly appear beside her.

"Edward? You following me?" Evelyn asked raising an eyebrow.

"I just wanted to take you home," Edward replied casually, he kept walking with his hands in his pants pockets.

Evelyn trotted over to align her position with Edward. "Why?"

"Does there have to be a reason if I want to take you home?"

Evelyn was silent, she just shook her head slowly. He took a deep breath and kept walking beside Edward.

"Thank you."

"For what?" Edward asked.

"This jacket, and drop me off maybe," Evelyn answered dubiously, scratching the back of her neck that wasn't itching. Don't know why he's feeling awkward right now.

Edward smiled in response, chose silence, and continued walking with Evelyn.

As the two of them walked together through a fairly deserted street, suddenly a man in a black robe appeared in front of them. Their steps suddenly stopped, Evelyn was scared and hid behind Edward's back. While Edward clenched his fists staring at the man in front of him, his eyes were burning red feeling the presence of the vampire nation.

"Diego," Edward muttered in annoyance but saw Evelyn hiding behind him. Making Edward delay finishing Diego at that time.

"Evelyn, close your eyes," Edward ordered.

"Why? Do you know that weird guy Edward? He's really scary," Evelyn said. How not, Diego showed red eyes and fangs in his teeth. To Evelyn's surprise and fear, this was the first time she had seen such a human being.

"No, just follow my orders. Close your eyes, don't open your eyes no matter what happens until I tell you to open them," Edward ordered with emphasis.

Not wanting to waste time asking questions, Evelyn immediately closed her eyes. After that Edward carried Evelyn without permission, sped as fast as lightning away from there. Escort Evelyn to a safer place.

"Open your eyes, and wait here until I get back," Edward ordered.

Evelyn immediately opened her eyes, but she looked left and right and didn't find Edward. The woman was getting more and more clueless, her brain was having a hard time digesting what was going on.

"Where is Edward? Why did I get here? Edward also told me to wait here for him, what happened? Who was that strange man, does Edward know him?" Evelyn's mind ran through many questions. She chose to sit in the chair nearby, waiting for Edward to return. Don't know what made him believe that Edward would come back.
