Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Patentum Paper

Lana stared at the knocked-out crow with a smile on her face before listing down the things she had memorized.

A crow who gained sentience 4 days ago knows how to form a contract; he also happens to have a meridian cleansing recipe.

What a surprise. Even in her previous life, no one ever had the formula. But this crow, who had gained sentience, knew it.

Coincidentally, he also felt a connection with her... haha!

If he truly felt a connection, why not confront her? Why follow her like a stalker? Why sneakily sign a contract?

She didn't feel any connection because her meridians were blocked... but how can Mr. Crow, who hadn't even formed a contract with her, sense that her meridian was blocked?

Because of the connection? Then, where was he in the past life?

Oh, and even if she somehow magically gains the potential to become a mystic cultivator in this lifetime, then why did Mr. Crow mention others couldn't but only he could see it?

She had never heard of a contracted beast knowing more than the master about the master.

So... the conclusion was... Mr. Crow knew more than he was telling, and staying in the dark while others know everything about you, pretending to act dumb.

Why? A CEO may reveal the secret to a dumb secretary who doesn't know the business world and its terminology, but he will never reveal it to people who are smart and sharp, even if the latter also don't have knowledge about the business world.

Lana laughed; the crow must have thought she was a single brain cell and made up such a story, yet included bits of truth.

'Well... your previous night's behavior is classified as one.' Her mind mocked her, but Lana only had a smile on her face. A silly... stupid smile.

After binding the crow with a charger in the room, she whistled, took a bath, and set out for the XWeapons company again.

Reaching the receptionist, she smiled a brilliant smile and greeted, "Hello, beautiful ladies~ I am back! Can you now give me paper?"

The tanned-skin woman was about to speak when the fair-skinned woman shook her head and whispered,

"Felixia! Don't you dare!"

"But Crystal, what's the problem in giving one chance?" Felixia whispered back, "It's not like she is bugging us to fix an appointment with the CEO. She wants a chance. Let's see her blueprint before making a decision."

Crystal glared at smiling Lana before frowning, "Are you serious? She is a singleton! She couldn't even phrase a quote properly!"

"Exactly," Felixia smirked; the face of the friendly mask she had worn till now seemed to slip a bit. "She is a singleton. Dealing with her will be simple. She will show her design and we will reject her after checking the feasibility, and then she won't have any face to bug us."

Crystal hesitated before nodding, "Alright then."

Yet she was unwilling and hence took out a plain white paper, handing it to Lana.

Lana didn't extend her hand and instead showed a set of white teeth. "This is not the standard paper."

What a joke; if she truly needed the plain white paper, she would have gotten it from the store and made it.

But...

Remembering her 'best friend's' superpower, Lana's eyes darkened. Her dear 'best friend' taught her a good lesson, and hence, even though she could submit a blueprint drawn on normal paper, Lana refused to touch white paper.

They were her trauma.

Crystal sighed, knowing she couldn't trick Lana, and took out an off-white-colored paper that was as thick as cardboard and had a red button at the bottom left corner.

Lana took the patentum paper; her hanging heart finally relaxed.

Patentum paper is a high-tech device created in their world that prevents plagiarism and spares researchers the trouble of repeatedly testing a blueprint design for feasibility.

A single paper costs $1000 if bought in bulk and $2000 if someone buys only one.

Lana hardly had a few hundred dollars, and even if she wanted to buy on credit, who would lend it?

That's $2000, not $2.

The Patentum paper had internet connectivity with the Patentum Archive. Meaning all the designs drawn will be registered directly with the archive. And the best part? It takes fingerprints before any patent design.

In the future, even if someone stole her Patentum paper, with the fingerprints, she could prove the design was hers.

It also allows the owner to make three types of designs. Partial, Obscure, and Final.

The partial design will be submitted to the CEO, as it has half of the insight into the design. The obscure design can be shown to the receptionist or the media people to maintain confidentiality, and the final design holds all the secrets.

For feasibility testing, the Patentum paper was installed with a trained LLM model, helping it to test the blueprint drawn.

All in all, a paper worth $2000. If Lana hadn't been scared of wasting money in her past life and had opted for this blueprint paper, she could have avoided a lot of detours.

'Sigh! Lana! Cheer up! This is not the time to recall those bad memories!'

The next second, she sat down and started to draw the design. Her skillful drawing stunned Crystal who pretended to look in Lana's direction by mistake.

'F*ck! Why is she acting like a professional?'

"She... does seem to have some skills," Felixia muttered, her eyes darkening.

"Don't talk nonsense! She must be drawing some weapon design with zero feasibility!" Crystal's face turned red, with disdain in her eyes.

20 minutes later.

Ding! Checking the feasibility...
