Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Carefree Lana

At Lana's question, the crow sighed and explained,

"You have mystic cultivation talent. However, all your meridians were blocked. If I hadn't contracted with you and told you the truth, no one in the world would be able to tell."

"What?" Lana's eyes widened in surprise.

Anyone's would. In her past life, she suffered, rose to power, fought back, and even took her revenge, but never once did she expect that she had cultivation power.

"But... but I... was tested again and again till I turned 18, and all the time, it was proven that I don't have any talent for being a cultivator."

After the emergence of Aether, the energy source, many useful items were made, and one of them was called the Cultivator Crystal.

It was made of a special type of ore found in mines of Country S named Nxymarble.

Nxymarble reacts to every human possessing even an inch of talent for cultivation.

If a person is eligible to become a Spiritualist, Celestial Master, Mystic Cultivator, Talisman Practitioner, or even Summoner, it depends on the color emitted by the Nxymarble.

Even if her meridians were blocked, her potential was still there, so how come the Nxymarble can't detect the presence of that potential in her?

Or was it...

"Wait... the Cultivator Crystal doesn't actually acknowledge the potential but channels the energy into humans to get the result?" Lana questioned.

The crow shrugged, "I don't know."

Seeing its indifferent attitude, Lana narrowed her eyes before putting on a carefree attitude

"Mr. Crow, now that you are my contract beast, please tell me what happened last night." And why did you target me? I mean, I am the stupidest person to have a contract with."

She even shows her bright white teeth. She embodies the epitome of someone who lacks common sense.

The crow showed a disgusted expression as it moved. 'What a stupid human.'

Then it opened its mouth and explained,

"When I saw you the first time, I felt a connection and knew that you were destined to be a master. I had gained my sentience just a few moments ago and was trying to find a mystic cultivator when I encountered you. Hence, I contracted with you. Don't think of yourself as some special mystic cultivator. If it wasn't for the connection, you would never have caught my eye."

"Oh?" Lana nodded. "About what had happened last night..."

The crow looked at Lana in disdain and explained everything that had ensued last night.

"Then, about the mystic cultivation part. Do you have a way that I can cleanse my meridian?" Lana asked sweetly, her eyes sparkling.

"Of course." The Mr. Crow puffed up its chest and felt even prouder when Lana looked at it with admiration.

'Hm... she is easy to control. Just the fact that she didn't get angry at me and is continuing to ask questions shows how easy-going she is. Not once did she question my explanation.'

"You will need herbs. Silverthread root, Azure Veinleaf, Starblossom, Emberthorn Berry, Mistveil Fern, and Lumen moss."

"And what about the recipe?" Lana asked with admiration in her eyes.

The crow looked at her warily and asked suspiciously, "Why are you asking so many questions?"

Lana pouted, flopping on the floor, "I want to take revenge on that damn adoptive family of mine! They hurt me so much! I am so miserable! If you don't tell me the recipe, I might as well die from the grief I am holding in!"

"No." The crow shook its head firmly. "I won't!"

'That's my trump card. Who knows what this human would do after knowing the recipe?' His instincts were sharp, and he sensed danger way quicker than others.

"Come on, Mr. Crow! You have been following me for a day! You must have seen how stupid I am! Just tell me this once! And it's not like I will remember it all. I couldn't even score more than 0 in my exams." Lana complained.

Mr. Crow thought about it and remembered something before nodding. It indeed seems to be the case.

Yet it didn't forget to cast a disdainful glance before telling the recipe in as fast a voice as possible.

After finishing, he heaved a sigh of relief. 'She must not have remembered it at all! I was pretty fast.'

"So you really have the formula... wow!" Lana muttered, then paused, "But other than herbs, we don't need anything, right? I am broke."

"Hmph! Nothing! Just a fire to boil those herbs on gas at a constant 40 degrees Celsius and drink it." The crow muttered.

Just as he finished, he felt a sharp ache spreading in his head, followed by a carefree voice.

"Thank you, Mr. Crow."

Clang.
