A fierce quarrel was raging in the hall.
"I told you—a wise monarch will never provoke a war lightly! Five years ago, I naively thought you were ready. Now it seems I was wrong."
Vanity, greed, cruelty, arrogance, ignorance… Thor was unworthy of the trust of other star realms.
This was perhaps the harshest criticism Odin had ever leveled at his son. The root cause wasn't just Thor's mistakes—it was that Odin saw in Thor a reflection of Hela in the past, as well as himself in his youth.
Odin's insults to Thor were, in fact, reflections on the first half of his own life. Back then, Odin advocated force, and his brutal conquests had thrown the Nine Realms into chaos. Hundreds of millions across the Nine Realms had suffered in wars provoked by Asgard.
"You also told me that a true king must always be ready to fight! The war has already begun, but you refuse to admit it. They started the war, and I simply chose to fight it! Without your interference, the war would already be over!"
Thor shot back, tit for tat.
In his opinion, Odin's approach was no different from that of the European Virgin Mary in a previous life—full of past sins, now reflecting and trying to correct them. He had been extremely tolerant of the suffering of lords back then, making a mess of things… but that was his overflowing love. To demand others do the same was simply unreasonable.
Finally, a furious Odin deprived—or sealed—Thor's divine powers and sent him to Earth to hone his mind.
Thor had expected this. Even if nothing had happened, he had planned to leave Asgard for a while.
A few days prior, Odin and Frigga had grown tired of Thor's overeating, ordered him to a vegetarian diet, and banned him from drinking.
"You can't lose weight! Do you really treat yourself like a pig?" Odin had scolded.
Fortunately, Maya Hansen had not disliked him; otherwise, Thor feared he might have become a monk.
Odin picked up Mjolnir, preparing to send it to Earth with Thor. Then he suddenly thought of something, added another spell, and fell into Odin's sleep…
Outside the atmosphere, Carol Danvers was observing Earth. For several years, she had been busy finding a home for the Skrulls. But habitable planets were rare, and most already had indigenous populations. Now, she had taken a break from her busy schedule to check on Earth.
At that moment, a huge figure quickly fell toward her. Carol punched outward immediately, and the figure disappeared into the sky.
"Uh… why did it seem like a person just now? A little familiar…"
Two hundred catties of Thor and four hundred catties of Thor were two very different things.
The hammer was supposed to land in Thor, New Mexico, but it deviated from its orbit, flying north across the North Pole.
As it passed over Norway, a magic circle appeared out of thin air. Thor fell into it—and then disappeared.
Back in Asgard, Heimdall suddenly realized Thor was missing. He went to report it to Odin, but found Odin already in his sleep. He decided not to worry too much; in his view, if Thor's life were truly in danger, Odin would not have ignored it.
In New Mexico, a hammer fell from the sky and landed in a crater, drawing significant attention.
Nick Fury arrived immediately and sealed off the scene. He recognized the hammer.
An up-and-coming Natasha Romanoff tried to lift it, but she found she couldn't.
"Mjolnir didn't reject me, but I felt another force holding me back… as if someone blocked me," she explained, confused.
S.H.I.E.L.D. began searching for Thor secretly. Yet Thor did not appear on Earth, leaving no trace.
Years later, the crater where Mjolnir had landed became a famous local attraction.
