Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Facing Death

In the gray sky, there was no sign of life; everything was gray and silent.

This was a dead world.

"Huh?" A cold voice seemed to echo from the Nine Realms.

A figure in black tights trimmed with silver walked slowly, gazing indifferently at the unconscious Thor on the ground. The corners of the figure's mouth twitched slightly. Although the living standard in Shenyu is really high, there's no need to treat yourself like this… Be virtuous… Is Asgard really so corrupt now?

In fact, Thor had already woken up. The first thing he heard upon regaining consciousness was the voice of a system:

"Drip. Congratulations to the host for triggering Hela's exclusive mission: Facing Death. As the eldest princess of Asgard, Hela will reclaim everything that belongs to her in the future. Now, let's start the first round ahead of schedule!"

Mission objective: Facing Death – Do not use external force to survive in Hela's hands.

Mission reward: Passive skill – Death Resistance: In any circumstance, time will rewind after death, and the host will return to a previous point while retaining memory. The rewind should not exceed fifteen minutes. Enemies with high awareness may notice it.

If Thor were still strong, he could at least struggle—after all, Hela had not yet returned to Asgard. But now, he was merely a powerful mortal. Although the power granted by the system had not vanished, his chances of winning were slim.

Should he use his secret cards? Three Infinity Gem experience coupons came to mind: Power Gem! Space Gem! Soul Gem!

The Power Gem experience coupon could unleash the full power of the gem once. The Space Gem could teleport him randomly once. Both could save him from immediate danger, but the mission would fail.

No… perhaps it could still be salvaged.

Thor composed himself and slowly "woke up."

Hela's appearance was striking. After all, she shared the same face as the Elf Queen. Unfortunately, her witch-like black messy hair and smoky makeup made her look terrifying.

Thor looked at her with a puzzled expression. His face shifted rapidly from confusion to excitement:

"Sister?!"

Hela froze for a moment. Refusing to acknowledge Odin, Odin would inevitably hide and cover up this history. Now in Asgard, aside from Odin and Frigga, almost no one knew of her existence—and it was impossible for them to tell others.

Thor continued, excited:

"Sister, it's amazing that you're not dead! I always thought you were dead!"

"Stop. Stop!" Hela was clearly not used to such a bloody sibling reunion. She interrupted immediately:

"I ask questions, you answer. If you don't cooperate, it's useless to call me 'grandma' today. If I'm in a good mood, I might give you a chance to serve me."

Kneeling and flattering was impossible in this life! Thor complained inwardly.

First of all, how did she know him? Didn't Odin cover up his presence? Hela asked coldly.

"No, you never appeared in Asgard's history. I saw you in an ancient tome. I asked my father, and he scolded me so I wouldn't mention it again. Later, my mother told me you exist, but she didn't say where you were."

Hela sneered. "As expected. Then the next question: why did you come here?"

Now that Thor's identity was clear, she could naturally see the seal on him.

Thor's expression shifted between excitement and anger:

"Because I disobeyed him! Because the enemy had already attacked the palace, and Father still wanted to negotiate! So I waged war against the Frost Giants of Jotunheim without authorization. If Father hadn't stopped me… I would have resolved it all. The universe would remember the name Asgard! But Father still clings to that hypocritical idea of benevolence! So I was exiled—because fighting to defend the people is no longer allowed!"

The more Thor spoke, the more excited he became. Usually he pretended, but these were his true inner thoughts.

War is cruel, but blindly avoiding it rarely brings real peace; it only tempts the enemy to test your limits repeatedly.

As far as he knew, the Frost Giants would not appreciate Odin's kindness. In the future, Laufey would attempt to assassinate Odin—only to be stopped by Loki at the last minute.

Naturally, Thor could not support Hela's militarism, but he also disagreed with Odin's appeasement policy. Both were too extreme.

Only those who can fight can ensure peace!
