You were the one who said we should go ahead with this, and now you're trying to twist things, playing tricks with me? What exactly are you trying to do?!" His words tumbled out in pieces, too scattered to sound like the sharp accusations he wanted them to be.
The weight of Axel's last statement lingered between them, and it left him rattled, unable to disguise how much it pierced through him.
