Chapter 38 - You And Ivan?!

Axel threw on the first things his hands landed on: a black long-sleeved shirt, loose enough to hang freely on his body, and wide-legged black pants that fell straight down to his shoes.

It was careless, rushed, but he didn't care. He only needed to cover himself.

His hair was a mess, sticking in damp strands against his forehead, so he grabbed a plain white headband and tied it quickly, pushing the mess back.

And even though it was all rushed and simple, he still looked good in everything he wore.

He shoved his phone into his hand and left the room. He needed air outside to clear his mind.

His phone vibrated again in his palm, buzzing like it was screaming at him. He unlocked it mid-step, his eyes darting to the screen. But before he even saw the new message, the time on the display froze him in place.

5 p.m. ?!

His breath hitched. His steps faltered. He stopped halfway down the staircase, blinking at the numbers as though they were lying to him.

Five. In the evening?!
