Chapter 16 - Father of strays

She fumed, her silver grey eyes shone with defiance, her fiery hair framed her small diamond-shaped face, and she yelled, "Just because I am a woman doesn't mean I can't fight! I have basic defense skills. I can do Judo, I can use daggers well enough…"

I tuned her voice out as she went on listing all she could do, while I studied her, from her wounded legs in a cast to her arm.

For a human, she was doing great. I hadn't seen one that fully bounced back after stepping into that snare soaked in Oleander. They die. For rogues, it would take at most two months to recover and for the poison to be wholly out of their system.

Yet, this petite temerarious human was fine even after losing so much blood.

Maybe she isn't as human as you think. There's something off about her, and you don't want to get close to her enough to tell.
