ARIA
I'm so dead.
My gaze skittered through the blackness, though I wasn't looking for anything. I just wanted to avoid looking at his eyes. I panted, clasping my sweaty palms tight while I took slow, deliberate steps backward.
This wasn't how I imagined my escape to turn out, even as I planned nothing. To be honest, only someone with a vivid direction of where they were going would have a plan, right? Sure enough.
I didn't, but I never thought Atlas would be outside here, chasing after me. I took him for bluffing when he said he was a step ahead of me. Damn it. For real, he was a petty prick.
Atlas edged closer, his gaze hard, a grunt slipping past his lips. "I asked you a question, Aria."
He wanted me to answer that? Hell no!
It wasn't that I didn't know what to say, but because I shouldn't give him an answer. It wasn't any of his business if I chose to run away or endanger my life.
"Why do you care?" I muttered, scanning the forest once more for the nearest way out.
