Chapter 27 - Suspicion

"What are you doing out here?" Atlas asked, his eyes narrowed suspiciously on mine. They moved from the flower in my hands to my face, and his jaw clenched.

He continued when I said nothing. "Imogen made it clear you need to rest. Why aren't you doing that?"

I shrugged. "I feel like a caged bird in that room—"

"It's the most spacious room in the whole of the pack house," Atlas cut me off.

"Of course, it was. That doesn't mean I shouldn't still feel caged. Besides, I feel no pain anymore."

And that was the truth. Yesterday, when Atlas arrived, the pain in my ribs was weirdly alleviated. I had wondered if it was because of Imogen. Since she was a healer, she must have done something, but then I recalled feeling much intense pain in her presence. But with Atlas, it was merely a dull ache, and when I woke up this morning, it was gone entirely.
