Chapter 6 - Charm and Internal Energy

In the dim room, Bai Ye gazed at the changes in his attribute panel with surprise.

Not only his physique, but also his strength, charm, and the unspent attribute points had broken their limits in a chain reaction caused by the physique breakthrough.

Just this afternoon, he had been wondering if he could improve his spirit attribute within the three days before school.

But before a day had passed, he had raised all his attributes by 0.1, thanks to his own efforts and a little help from the system panel!

But what's with this charm? Bai Ye was puzzled.

It made perfect sense that his strength attribute, which was on the verge of breaking through, had increased, but what did this have to do with charm?

With his confusion, Bai Ye fumbled for the light switch, turned on the lamp, and slowly walked into the bathroom. The next second, he was stunned by the person in the mirror.

In the mirror, Bai Ye saw a handsome young man with a tall and straight figure and picturesque eyebrows staring at himself in surprise. Every detail was perfect, from his fair, glowing skin to his deep eyes.

"I give up," Bai Ye sighed, looking at himself in the mirror.

Before this, he had always been quite confident in his appearance.

How to describe his previous appearance? Let's just say that in front of him, Takeshi Kaneshiro was a touch less impressive, and Daniel Wu was a notch below.

Because of his confidence in his appearance, although he didn't express much, he was quite critical of the 1.3 in the charm section of his stats.

If his charm was only 1.3, what would 1.4 look like?

But when he reached 1.4, he was relieved. Indeed, a charm of 1.4 should look exactly like him.

Bai Ye briefly examined his appearance for a moment, then walked out of the bathroom. With his body and mind in peak condition, he carefully studied the annotations in the Gentleman's Sword and began learning the Purple Mist Divine Skill.

He didn't know if it was because his mental state had broken through 1.3, but Bai Ye felt a significant improvement in both his memory and comprehension. His learning efficiency was astonishingly fast. It only took him two hours to completely memorize the several thousand words of the Purple Mist Divine Skill's internal energy cultivation method, word for word.

He sat cross-legged on the sofa, eyes slightly closed, gradually emptying his mind. Then, he tried to circulate his Internal Energy according to the meridian circulation route map, but after sitting still for more than ten minutes, he felt nothing.

Bai Ye wasn't impatient, always keeping his mind calm and his body still.

According to the annotations in the Gentleman's Sword, a peerless genius could generate a wisp of True Qi in their body every fifteen minutes, while those with outstanding talent would take the time of an incense stick, those with good talent would take two hours, those with mediocre talent would take half a day, and those with poor talent would take one to five days. The difference brought by talent was huge.

After more than ten minutes, he still felt nothing, which only proved that his talent wasn't that of a so-called peerless genius.

In a meditative state, reciting the mental cultivation method, finally, after thirty-five minutes, a small stream of air rose from the Tanzhong Acupoint on the meridian map.

Sensing the difference, Bai Ye's heart stirred, and he focused his mind, slowly guiding this stream of air through every meridian in his body, finally storing it in his dantian.

So, I'm considered to have decent talent. Bai Ye thought, opening his eyes. A new prompt appeared in the description panel:

You have completed an Internal Energy circulation lasting 35 minutes and 21 seconds, generating a wisp of Purple Mist True Qi within your body.

It doesn't show any increase in physique, which means cultivating Internal Energy won't significantly boost physique? Bai Ye pondered, recalling the performance of martial artists in The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. Indeed, those who lost their Internal Energy were almost like ordinary people.

But he wasn't discouraged, because in Yue Buqun's annotations, besides prolonging life, Internal Energy could also compensate for stamina recovery. As long as he had enough Internal Energy, exercising for three days and nights straight wouldn't be a problem.

He continued to calm his mind and circulate his Internal Energy, gradually strengthening it. Then, around every half hour, he could generate a wisp of Internal Energy within his body.

The long night passed. As Bai Ye continuously circulated his energy, by dawn, the mere wisp of True Qi within his body had only grown twentyfold in quantity, reaching the level of two wisps.

As he slowly finished his cultivation, the faint purple energy that had appeared on his face during the process also faded away. His eyes slowly opened, shining with vitality.

He didn't know if it was the effect of his Internal Energy, but after a whole night without sleep, he wasn't very tired, and his spirits remained high.

He moved his slightly stiff body, found some food from the refrigerator, and wolfed it down. After a simple cleanup, Bai Ye prepared to go out and run to the gym.

Notification: You completed a run of 1824 meters, with an average pace of 3 minutes 21 nds/km. Repeated 8321 times. Sustained long-term damage: 0.05%. Can recover on own when physique reaches 1.5. Repeated 412 times: Increases Strength limit by 0.1 Repeated 213 times: Increases Physique limit by 0.1 Repeated 1742 times: Increases Spirit limit by 0.1 ...

Looking at the numbers on the notification, Bai Ye, who was only slightly out of breath, eyesecos lit up.

This data was nearly a minute faster in pace than yesterday. This progress was truly astonishing. His hard training had indeed paid off. However, after his physical fitness improved, the number of repetitions required to increase by 0.1 more than doubled.

Filled with satisfaction from the improvement in his body, Bai Ye went directly into the gym and found Smith.

"Are you really Bai Ye? Are you sure you don't have a twin brother?" Smith looked at the radiant, handsome young man before him, comparing it to the haggard appearance he had seen yesterday evening, and wondered if he was hallucinating.

Not only was he full of energy, but looking at Bai Ye now, Smith couldn't help but recommend, "I don't know what you're working out for, but you really don't need to push yourself so hard. With that face, I guarantee you could thrive in the film industry even without any acting skills."

"Coach, you're talking too much. I just want to train!" Bai Ye emphasized, feeling dissatisfied. This guy, despite his muscles, was a chatterbox, always interfering with his training with his words.

"OK, since your body is fine, let's start today's training. What do you want to start with?" Smith said, spreading his hands.

"Let's start with bodyweight squats," Bai Ye said, then took off his shoes and walked onto the yoga mat. After a simple warm-up, he placed his hands flat and began to squat.

Five minutes later, Smith rubbed his eyes, watching Bai Ye struggling with his squats: What's going on? He's already done almost 400 squats. Yesterday, didn't he look like he was about to die after just over 200?

Looking at Bai Ye, who was dramatically breaking his record, Smith was a bit skeptical of life, but even more skeptical was whether this young man's fatigue yesterday was faked.
