Chapter 29 - Tough Game

Dominic flew back to his Villa, his flamboyant posture making it seem as if he had just plucked stars from the sky. He landed gracefully, and the moment his feet touched the ground, he shrugged, shaking off invisible dust as if returning victorious from a battlefield, wearing his usual confident smile.

"Oh, look at that, Dominic, saving the World, messing with Hulk, and then making a grand return." He muttered to himself, a cynical smile playing on his lips. "If this isn't the pinnacle of being a superhero, then I really don't know what is."

However, before he could fully savor this narcissistic moment, a group of fully armed Agents suddenly swarmed out from all directions, surrounding him completely. Dominic frowned slightly, and seeing the serious expressions on the faces of these men in black, he couldn't help but let out a light chuckle.

"Whoa, guys, you really know how to surprise people." Dominic spread his hands, speaking with exaggerated flair. "I just got back, and you won't even give me time to take off my combat boots?"

Just then, an Agent-like "auntie" walked out from the crowd, pulling out an ID card from her hand, her face set in a stern expression. "I am FBI Agent Maria Waterson." She introduced herself coldly, flashing the ID card in front of Dominic. "You are suspected of involvement in a transnational case, and we have reason to suspect you are involved in..." Her voice sounded extremely serious, as if she was about to expose all of Dominic's 'crimes'.

Dominic raised an eyebrow, his eyes full of mockery. "Oh, Mrs. Waterson, this is truly an unexpected 'welcome ceremony'. But you know what? I'm not the kind of person who's easily morally blackmailed." He glanced at her ID, the corner of his mouth curving up slightly. "FBI? Whoa, a really high-level agency, but could you guys maybe be a little more low-key? My house isn't some kind of courthouse."

Agent Waterson completely ignored his sarcasm, looking at him coldly. "The state has the right to require your cooperation in an investigation. If you refuse to cooperate, you may face imprisonment, with a maximum sentence of up to fifty years, or even more."

Dominic shrugged, feigning indifference. "Fifty years? My goodness, that sounds longer than my entire lifespan. But honestly, Mrs. Waterson, do you really think I'll spend fifty years in prison?" He scoffed, sighing dramatically. "I can't disappoint the World's expectations of me like that. After all, I am Dominic, the man who saves the World."

Waterson's face was serious, and she continued her moral blackmail. "You may think you're special, but national security is paramount. As a citizen, you have an obligation to cooperate with the investigation, otherwise you will face harsher sanctions."

Dominic's lips curved up slightly, his eyes full of cynical light. "Whoa, national security? Moral obligation? Sounds like you guys really value me, but honestly, the title 'citizen' feels a bit heavy to wear. I'm not saying I disagree with serving the country, it's just..." He paused deliberately, casually surveying the surrounding Agents, his eyes full of playfulness. "Could you perhaps offer a 'more appealing' way to negotiate? Like making my cell look like a five-star hotel, with some custom services added? Then I might consider cooperating."

The Agents' faces remained cold, but Dominic clearly didn't take their threats seriously. He grinned and continued to tease, "Seriously, you want me to be locked up for fifty years? Whoa, how many seasons of soap operas could I binge-watch? I'm not sure if your prison has Netflix."

Waterson's face turned red with anger, and she said coldly, "This is not a joking matter, Mr."

Dominic, however, had a relaxed expression and continued to speak with a playful smile. "Uh-huh, alright, alright, I know it's not a joke, but honestly, fifty years in prison is less interesting to me than taking a walk on the moon."

The Agents' faces remained stiff. Waterson took a deep breath, clearly exasperated by Dominic, but Dominic's face was full of playful amusement. "Don't worry, I'll cooperate. After all, I'm the 'most understanding' superhero, even the country has to rely on me to save it!"

The moment he finished speaking, the surrounding Agents still didn't relax their guard, while Dominic stood among them at ease, as if all of this was just a minor interlude in his daily life.

Waterson took a deep breath, clearly infuriated by Dominic's flippant attitude. Looking at the arrogant and presumptuous man before her, she inwardly vowed to show him who's boss. After all, the FBI wasn't to be trifled with.

"Dominic," she said coldly, her tone laced with strong threat. "Don't think you can rise above the law. No matter how strong you are, you're still just one person, and we—" She pointed to the surrounding Agents with her finger. "—are the state machine. You might not understand, but when this machine starts running, let alone you, even a god would have to submit."

After she finished speaking, she signaled the Agents beside her to act. Several fully armed Agents immediately stepped forward, taking out handcuffs, ready to subdue Dominic. What seemed like a simple arrest operation, however, was already foreshadowed by the cold sneer on Dominic's face, indicating that things were about to get anything but "simple."

"Oh, the state machine..." Dominic lowered his head slightly, saying with a cold sneer, his voice low like a passing storm. "You people, do you really think machines can defeat humans? Or rather, defeat *me*?"

The moment his words fell, Dominic moved. His speed was so fast it was hard to see clearly; one only saw a sudden dull explosion in the air, accompanied by a heavy fist landing on the face of the first Agent. The Agent hadn't even reacted before being heavily sent flying, slamming into the wall several meters away.

"Bang!" That punch seemed to have swept away all the stillness in the air.

"You want the 'power of the machine'? Alright then, I'll show you what *real* power is."

Dominic whispered, a cold sneer appearing. As he raised his hand, he directly struck down the next charging Agent, casually tearing off their bulletproof vest and tossing it aside. With every punch he threw, he'd utter a sarcastic remark.

"State machine? Don't make me laugh. Machines are just tools. The ones who truly control the World are people!"

With the next punch, he sent another Agent trying to shoot flying. Bullets scattered around him, but in his eyes, they were just insignificant flying insects. When the bullets hit his skin, there was only a slight 'clack' sound, and he seemed completely unaware, merely showing a sarcastic smile.

"Do you really think I'm afraid of this stuff? Seriously, machines? Humans? They're all just pawns." He casually wiped the corner of his mouth, his eyes full of disdain, and then threw another punch, knocking down another Agent.

The Agents watched as their companions fell one after another, their eyes filled with terror. They desperately fired their guns, trying to control the situation, but facing this monstrous man, they completely lost confidence. Dominic was like a cat playing with mice; every punch was incredibly precise, and the Agents had no power to fight back at all.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" With a few gunshots, Dominic instantly dealt with the last few Agents. The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder and chaos. He slowly stood up, his eyes flashing with dangerous red light, and slowly walked towards Waterson, who had already begun to retreat.

"Now, let me tell you something." Dominic's voice was low and cold. He grabbed Waterson's collar, gently lifted her up, and the laser in his eyes drew a faint bright line in the darkness.

"'State machine'? You really should understand one thing—in this World, only people like me are the true controllers."

Waterson's face was pale, her lips trembling slightly. She tried to say something to retort, but her throat felt blocked, unable to utter a single sound. She struggled hard, her eyes filled with disbelief and fear, as if she had just realized she was facing an existence far more dangerous than she had imagined.

Dominic leaned closer to her, a cold sneer on his lips, and whispered, "Looks like you still don't understand... But it's okay, I have plenty of time to teach you."

He effortlessly slammed Waterson hard against the wall; the entire room trembled slightly with the impact. Waterson's body fell powerlessly to the ground like a rag doll, a trace of blood oozing from the corner of her mouth, her expression contorted with pain and fear.

"Welcome to reality, Waterson." Dominic smiled, his eyes cold. "Your 'machine' might not be enough anymore."

The air was filled with tension and oppression. All the Agents lay on the ground groaning, while Dominic still stood there, as if he had just finished a simple warm-up exercise.

Waterson coughed, trying to stand up, but the pain throughout her body made her unable to move. A flicker of fear and anger flashed in her eyes, but she knew she could no longer contend with the man before her.
