Chapter 30 - Kidnapping the Moral Gentleman

Waterson's lips trembled, her face pale, her eyes filled with helplessness and despair. She looked at the dying Agents lying on the ground; some had already stopped breathing, while others were still struggling, letting out painful groans. Her voice was weak and hoarse: "You... how could you... do this to them... They were just... just following orders..."

Dominic chuckled disdainfully, his hands in his pockets, his posture relaxed, his eyes full of indifference and mockery. He slowly walked towards Waterson, a hint of sarcasm in his tone: "Life? Oh, Waterson, do you really think their lives are important? They are nothing but pawns in the government's hands, mere puppets."

He paused, feigning thought as he stroked his chin, then continued: "You know, politicians never care about the lives of these people, unless these corpses can bring them greater power or profit. Just like in those wars in the Middle East, soldiers fight for 'national honor', and what's the result? They die in the desert, while the politicians sitting in high-level offices enjoy the substantial benefits brought by victory."

Dominic's voice gradually turned cold, his eyes sharp with a hint of mockery: "You think the lives of these Agents are important? No, Waterson, they are just small cogs in this vast 'national machine'. The government sends them to the front lines simply to maintain this rotten system, and you, as part of this machine, are merely a tool being used."

He leaned down, looking down at the pained Waterson, his eyes filled with ruthless sarcasm: "Their sacrifice will only become beautiful words in a politician's speech, making the public cry and applaud for their 'great dedication'. But in the end? Their bodies are placed in cold coffins, leaving behind only the tears of their families and empty promises that will never be fulfilled."

Dominic lightly shook his head and sighed, his tone full of sarcasm: "You think you are protecting the country, but in reality, you are merely being used as shields by politicians. Those important figures sit in safe places, drinking expensive whiskey, discussing how to use your lives to win them more votes and money next time."

He straightened up, stretched, and continued to mock: "You think politicians really care about their lives? Wow, think about the soldiers who sacrificed themselves in the Middle Eastern desert, what did their families receive? A coffin draped with a flag and a few cheap medals. Oh, and of course, the politicians' eloquent speeches, promising a 'better future', only for these futures to always be empty words."

Dominic's tone was full of coldness and sarcasm: "In the end, they never care about the lives of these insignificant people. The only thing that matters is their money and power, and the lives of these 'pawns' can be sacrificed at any time."

Waterson's breathing became more rapid, her eyes widened, her heart filled with anger and powerlessness. She wanted to retort, but every word Dominic spoke pierced her deepest fears and doubts.

"Remember, Waterson, you are just one of the pawns." Dominic chuckled lightly, a cold light flickering in his eyes, "When you are no longer useful, your fate will likely be no better than theirs."

After saying that, he turned and left elegantly, leaving behind the injured scattered on the ground and the terrified Waterson, as if all this were just a small interlude in his daily life.

The air was filled with the scent of death, and Dominic's figure gradually disappeared into the night, carrying his flamboyant confidence and ruthless sarcasm, as if in this rotten World, he was the only one who truly saw the rules clearly.

In the heart of New York City, a towering skyscraper rose into the night sky, its lights shining brightly. This brand new five-star building had just opened, and its name was quite grand – "Star's Peak". Dominic stood on the observation balcony on the top floor, narrowing his eyes slightly, as if appraising the building adorned with the magnificent name.

In his ears, various indistinct sounds subtly reached him – even through the thick walls, his super hearing still picked up some "unspeakable" details. The gasps and moans of men and women, the creaking and bumping of beds, as if countless indescribable "movies" were being played out in the rooms of this high-end building.

Dominic shrugged, that cynical smile appearing on his face, and muttered to himself: "Hey, it seems this building offers more than just five-star accommodation services, it's practically an entertainment paradise." He lightly tapped the railing, a playful smile on his lips, "At least, the guests here tonight are quite 'enjoying themselves'."

He stood there quietly, but a hint of undetectable coldness was in his eyes. His hearing didn't just pick up these irrelevant sounds; it also caught the footsteps and whispers hidden in the shadows. Some people seemed to be trying to get close to him – or rather, "monitoring" him.

"Finally, someone wants to make a move on me." Dominic lightly bit his lip, smiling like a Beast that had caught its prey, "I've been waiting for this day for a long time."

He recalled his movements over the past few days and had already sensed that someone was secretly plotting something behind the scenes. "Experiment?" he murmured to himself, the smile on his face growing wider, "It seems some people really want to know the limits of a superhero."

Standing under the night sky, gazing at the city lights, his heart was filled with cold laughter and sarcasm. The entire New York seemed peaceful beneath his feet, the glittering neon lights and the trails of traffic weaving a magnificent picture. However, behind this beautiful city lay countless brewing conspiracies and greedy hearts.

"Quite bold, aren't they," Dominic murmured softly, a mocking smile on his lips. His gaze pierced through the buildings, as if he could already see the people moving in the darkness. He knew who they were and understood their motives. This group of self-righteous 'scientists' and 'politicians' actually naively believed that they could control him and explore the boundaries of his powerful strength through a so-called "experiment".

"Using me as a test subject?" Dominic lightly shook his head, a cold light flickering in his eyes. "Heh, how naive." His tone was filled with undisguised contempt, "Do they really think they are hunting a helpless Beast? No, they have no idea what they are up against."

He stood there, his hands in his pockets, his figure tall and relaxed, as if he already had the whole situation under control. In fact, just as he thought, he didn't need any extra effort; he just needed to wait for those hunters to walk step by step into the abyss themselves. This so-called 'experiment' was destined from the start to determine who was the prey and who was the hunter.

"The experiment has begun?" He looked up at the distant city, sighed softly, his face still wearing that cynical smile, "Very well. Then I will 'cooperate' with you properly this time and see if you break down first or if I get bored first." A hint of wicked light flashed in his eyes, as if he could already see the fear and despair of the planners when they realized they couldn't control him.

Dominic slowly took a step, and his entire figure disappeared from the observation deck into the night. His figure merged into the shadows of the city, like a ghost, silently slipping into the darkness. For him, this was not an experiment, but a fun hunting game. And those who thought they could control him would ultimately find that they were the real prey in this game.

"Come on, you foolish hunters," he murmured in a low voice, his tone filled with cruel mockery, "Let's see how long you can last." His figure disappeared into the night, leaving only the distant neon lights still flickering, as if nothing unusual had ever happened. And this city was about to welcome an impending storm.

This game of hunter and prey had just begun.
