Chapter 17 - That Book is Called Douluo Continent

"Did your mother teach you all this?"

Old Chen couldn't help but ask Huo Yuhao. In his opinion, other than Huo Yun'er, who had been with Dai Hao back then, no one else could have taught Huo Yuhao these things.

"No." Huo Yuhao shook his head.

"Then how do you know all this?" Old Chen was a bit surprised.

"I learned it from a street stall novel. It just so happens that some of the things in it are quite compatible with Dai Luoli." Huo Yuhao explained.

"Street stall novel?" Old Chen was stunned for a moment. "What's the name of that book?"

Huo Yuhao turned to look at Old Chen. He was silent for a moment before saying, "The name of that book is Douluo Continent."

"Douluo Continent?" Old Chen reacted, raising an eyebrow. "You wouldn't be reading those storybooks, would you? I'm telling you, those stories are fine for entertainment, but don't take too much of it seriously."

"Back in the day, those storybooks caused quite a stir in Star Luo City. Things like Tang San being able to lift a cauldron at the age of three, running around the Star Dou Great Forest once a day, nine golden dragon shadows appearing at birth, auspicious signs from the heavens, and so on, were all made up by some people."

"The most terrifying was a storybook called White Tiger Biography. They made your father, Dai Hao, seem like a god descended from the heavens, chasing and killing the Sun Moon Empire on the battlefield, showing the spirit of the empire's men. I've been with your father for so many years, and it was only after reading those storybooks that I realized there was such a thing."

"Don't worry, Old Chen, I know my limits." Huo Yuhao nodded with a strange expression. What is all this about?

"That's good." Old Chen understood why Huo Yuhao was so quick to learn. It was because he read too many of those street vendor storybooks.

Huo Yuhao naturally wouldn't explain that what he read was very different from what Old Chen was talking about.

But still, there really was a piece of street literature called 'Douluo Continent', he wasn't just making that up, besides that, there were others, for example:

"The Secret of the First Generation Shrek Seven Devils Becoming Gods, a Must-Read for Soul Masters!"

"The Reason for the Spirit Hall's Demise is Actually…"

"A Step-by-Step Guide to Turning Soul Beasts into Wives"

In short, there were too many of these.

People always need something entertaining to read, and that's how stories are born.

But looking at it this way, Old Chen's White Tiger Biography seemed a bit more realistic…

"Hmm."

Suddenly, a muffled groan echoed. Huo Yuhao turned his head to look and saw that Old Chen had already cut off the soul power input to the Bewildering Stone. Dai Luoli, who was experiencing the Yinmo Turtle's killing intent, had his legs give way and slumped directly onto the floor.

"Hoo, hoo." Emerging from the illusion, Dai Luoli was drenched in cold sweat and still gasping for air.

Huo Yuhao slowly walked towards Dai Luoli. When he reached him, he directly held out a hand.

Dai Luoli was panting, when he suddenly noticed a hand extended towards him. Initially, he thought it was Old Chen, but when he looked up, he was stunned.

It was the young man whom Old Chen had told him to call brother.

Huo Yuhao had a smile on his face. "What's wrong? Is the floor so comfortable that you don't want to get up?"

Perhaps because Huo Yuhao's smile was very gentle, Dai Luoli instinctively reached out and grasped Huo Yuhao's hand.

The next moment, Huo Yuhao pulled, helping Dai Luoli to stand up.

"Thank you," Dai Luoli said after a moment of silence. He had no friends his age in the Duke's Mansion.

"You're welcome," Huo Yuhao said casually.

Old Chen, smiling, put away the Bewildering Stone and then came to the two of them. "You two go and rest for a bit. We'll continue in the afternoon."

Huo Yuhao and Dai Luoli nodded in succession.

Huo Yuhao and Dai Luoli went to the living room to rest, but Old Chen didn't follow. He was going to check things out because no one had come to cause Huo Yuhao any trouble since last night, which made him somewhat puzzled.

He believed that the Duchess or Dai Huabin certainly knew that Huo Yuhao was hiding here with him.

"What's your Martial Soul?"

After arriving in the living room, Dai Luoli couldn't help but ask Huo Yuhao. Perhaps it was because of what happened in the training ground, but he wasn't as hostile towards Huo Yuhao anymore.

In the morning's lesson, Old Chen had arranged for Huo Yuhao to go to the library to study knowledge and techniques.

Huo Yuhao pointed at his eyes.

"Your Martial Soul is your eyes?" Dai Luoli's eyes lit up. He had also studied Martial Soul knowledge, and he knew that eye Martial Souls belonged to the body Martial Souls, which were extremely powerful.

"So, what's your current rank? Are you a Soul Grand Master yet?"

"I'm only at rank eight right now," Huo Yuhao answered Dai Luoli truthfully.

"Huh?" Dai Luoli stood there, stunned. Did he hear that right?

Rank eight?

"Your Martial Soul is so powerful, why is your soul power rank so weak?" Dai Luoli was puzzled.

Huo Yuhao's mouth twitched. Couldn't this kid be a little more tactful?

"My Innate Soul Power was only rank one, so my cultivation speed is very slow," Huo Yuhao explained.

Hearing this, Dai Luoli finally understood. He sighed, his face filled with youthful worry. "Then you're even more pitiful than me. I at least have innate soul power of rank three."

Huo Yuhao clenched his fists, then unclenched them.

"Right, are you going to study and cultivate here with Grandpa Chen in the future?" Dai Luoli asked Huo Yuhao with anticipation.

"No." Huo Yuhao shook his head.

Seeing this, a look of disappointment immediately appeared on Dai Luoli's small face.

"You seem to want me to stay here and cultivate?" Huo Yuhao said with a smile.

Dai Luoli nodded, his expression dim. "I don't have any friends. Everyday, besides cultivating, I just stay home and read. I thought you would be the same, and also study and cultivate here with Grandpa Chen. Then I would have a friend."

Huo Yuhao's gaze was calm as he watched Dai Luoli lower his head in disappointment. He paused and said, "Aren't I your friend now?"

Dai Luoli suddenly looked up.

"Even though you only have one friend, remember, having many friends isn't necessarily a good thing. Having friends who are true, that's what matters." Huo Yuhao spoke with the air of someone who knew.

Dai Luoli was taken aback, mulling over Huo Yuhao's words.

"I heard from Old Chen that your dream is to become a Title Douluo?" Huo Yuhao changed the subject.

Hearing this, Dai Luoli scratched his head, feeling a little shy. It wasn't a big deal for elders to know his aspirations, but for his peers to know was a bit awkward. Still, he nodded, "I want to become a Title Douluo, so I can slap the faces of those who look down on me and my mother."

"But becoming a Title Douluo is extremely difficult." Huo Yuhao looked at Dai Luoli.

"I understand what you mean." Dai Luoli looked at his hands and said in a low voice, "But no matter how difficult it is, I will work hard to cultivate. Ten years, thirty years, sixty years, as long as I don't die, I will never give up."

A smile appeared on Huo Yuhao's lips, "If I have a method to help speed up your cultivation progress, are you willing to do it?"

"What method? As long as it can speed up my cultivation, I'll do anything." Dai Luoli's tone was excited, his eyes burning with intensity.

"You'd do anything?" Huo Yuhao paused, his tone serious. "What if this method has a high chance of costing you your life? Would you still be willing?"

Dai Luoli's expression froze. He looked at Huo Yuhao's incredibly serious face, unsure how to respond.

Huo Yuhao wasn't in a hurry. He smiled and said, "You can think about it, and then tell Old Chen your decision when he gets back."

Dai Luoli fell silent, clearly stunned by Huo Yuhao's words.

He wasn't very familiar with death, but he knew that once someone died, they were gone forever, just like when his Grandmother passed away.

When his Grandmother died, his mother had cried constantly. If he died, what would his mother do? She'd definitely be very sad, wouldn't she?

He didn't want to see his mother sad.

Thinking this, Dai Luoli clenched his fists tightly.
