Chapter 17 - Won that bet.

I've been quixotic as fuck

Lost among the stars

Looking for a lover

From another

Galaxy

Something beyond ours.

And I can't fathom

How her aura

Penetrates

My atmosphere

Got me scattered

With no pattern

I haven't felt this way

In years.

-

As I gazed into her eyes

She said:

"Hey, they call me Mars."

And I was off,

My spirit chasing hers

Aloft, between the stars.

-

And I remembered then

Yes, way back when

Some time ago, we'd met.

And she had lost her little

Bottle of perfume.

I couldn't forget.

As I presented it to her

I wondered

If she'd missed me yet.

Her eyes alight

A sparkle to her smile

I'd safely won that bet.

-

 She said

"Hey...do me a favor."

As she handed me her phone.

Gave her my digits

Saved the widget

Maybe she'll text

When she gets home.

And I can't wait to go visit

Maybe she'll show me her poems,

Or her short stories

Or whatever she writes

When she's all alone.

-

I've been looking for someone to love

My heart's been feeling hollow.

Maybe she has love to spare

To share

Or even just to borrow.

And I can't fathom

How her smile

Seemed to melt

My atmosphere

Yes, she's vexed

My one trajectory

Ducked my detection gear.

-

As she gazed into my eyes

She said:

"You can call me Mars."

Such a vision

Sudden collision

What a body

Among stars.
