Miss Amanda's eyes constricted and her body froze when she saw the golden glow from the orb.
'Hmm, this is my first time seeing the orb glow golden. I've never heard of this before, but judging by her face, it seems serious' Victor frowned as he looked at Amanda. Before his regression, he had seen this orb, which detected whether a person had a bloodline or not, and he had even used it once. He became nervous when Amanda suddenly snapped her head in his direction and stared at him with such intensity that it unsettled him.
'How… this should be impossible. How did he awaken this type of bloodline? What happened to him during his disappearance?' Amanda thought, a frown forming on her beautiful face.
"Victor, do you know about the three types of bloodlines?" Amanda asked after taking a deep breath, looking at Victor.
"Three?" Victor frowned. Before his regression, he had only known of two types of bloodlines—the Knight Bloodline and the Mage Bloodline. How could there be a third?
'Looks like many things are different in this parallel world,' Victor thought.
Seeing that he wasn't answering, Amanda narrowed her eyes and pulled out a thick book from her storage ring.
"Ouch!" Victor rubbed his forehead as Amanda tossed it at him, hitting him squarely. He looked at her with resentment, but she only gave a cold smile.
"What? You should be more alert. What if it wasn't a book but something dangerous? You would already be dead," she said with a neutral expression, making Victor gulp nervously.
"Nothing… you're right, I was wrong," Victor admitted with a bitter smile, then looked at the book. The title read: Basic Information for Weaklings. His lips twitched at the sight of it.
He opened the first page of the book, flipped through a few sections, and stopped at the part that discussed bloodlines.
The first was the Knight Bloodline. As the name suggests, this bloodline focuses on close combat with weapons, much like knights from the medieval period. People born with this bloodline use a different form of mana called Ki. They are physically stronger than those with other bloodlines and excel at wielding powerful weapons. Most of their attacks revolve around weapon use—such as swords, spears, and axes. Knights are most effective in one-on-one combat against monsters and tend to cause the least collateral damage to their surroundings.
The second bloodline, which Victor himself had before his regression, was the Mage Bloodline. Those born with this bloodline are often much stronger than knights, as they wield the purest form of mana. Mages specialize in long-range combat and cast various elemental spells—such as fire, lightning, and wind. Compared to knights, they are far more destructive, capable of causing wide-scale damage to their environment.
Finally, there are bloodline ranks, starting from F, the weakest, to SSS, the strongest. These ranks determine the maximum potential a person can achieve in their lifetime. Once assigned, a rank cannot be surpassed unless one encounters some kind of world-defying treasure. Bloodline rank also limits the level of techniques or spells a person can learn. For example, a knight or mage with an A-rank bloodline can only learn techniques or spells up to A-rank at best.
' Hmm, this information is same as before my regression ' Victor thought.
Amanda, who was watching him read, spoke in a neutral voice.
"Mage Bloodlines are superior to those with a Knight Bloodline. For example, if you compare a mage with an S-rank Mage Bloodline to someone with an S-rank Knight Bloodline, it would take at least five or more knights to bring down a mage of the same rank. A single knight might struggle against a group of monsters and even die, while a mage could easily wipe out that same group. Even a mage's spells are far stronger than the weapon techniques of knights."
No wonder the elites of the academy are mostly students with Mage Bloodlines, Victor thought inwardly.
"Isn't there a way for someone with a Knight Bloodline to defeat someone with a Mage Bloodline?" Victor asked curiously, causing Miss Amanda to give him a strange look.
"Honestly, it's strange hearing that from you. You're one of the few who broke the norm. If you hadn't lost your memory, you wouldn't have asked this question," Amanda said in a calm voice, making Victor raise an eyebrow and look at her for further explanation.
"The only way a knight can defeat a mage of the same rank is if they're born with a very strong unique physique—some physiques grant tremendous strength or speed—or if they possess a very powerful weapon. In your case, you had a very strong sword. It was SS-rank," Amanda explained. Victor nodded slowly, a flicker of interest appearing in his eyes.
Gulp.
"SS-rank…" Victor swallowed hard. Even before his regression, he had never seen such a weapon—it would have cost billions. Yet now, it had apparently fallen into his lap. It felt like receiving a starter pack at the beginning of a journey.
"Really? Can I see my sword?" Victor asked eagerly. But Amanda's next words crushed his excitement.
"These are the remains of your sword," Amanda said as she produced a sword hilt covered in cracks. The moment she took it out, it shattered into pieces.
"I don't know what happened to you, but your sword was destroyed," Amanda sighed.
"No way…" Victor muttered, feeling a sharp pang of loss as he stared in a daze at the fragments of what should have been his greatest treasure.
"Continue reading," Amanda said coldly, unimpressed by his disappoinment.
'Sigh… If only I had a strong physique, the pain of losing the sword wouldn't sting this much,' Victor thought. Hearing her voice, he snapped out of his daze and continued reading the book.
Victor kept reading the section on knights, and it confirmed what Miss Amanda had said about physiques. He was honestly a bit surprised, as before his regression, he had never heard of anyone possessing physiques—it was likely that they didn't exist back then.
'Looks like another difference,' Victor thought, then turned to the next section about mages. It was far larger than the section on knights, and he quickly understood why mages were so highly sought after and valued by everyone.
Mages are further distinguished by their elemental affinity. Some are better suited for fire magic, while others may excel in poison magic. It's not that they can't use other elemental spells, but they tend to focus on the elements they have the strongest affinity with, as it allows them to grow stronger more quickly and master that element more easily. Some mages even possess secondary or tertiary affinities with additional elements.
The advantages that physiques and equipment give knights can be neutralized by mages. For example, mages also possess their own equipment. Although these are rarer and far more expensive than knight equipment, they are also much stronger.
There are also two other groups of mages. The first are Utility Mages—the richest people in the world, comparable to powerful families in terms of wealth. They specialize in professions such as potion-making or blacksmithing. The potions and equipment they craft for both mages and knights can sometimes be sold for billions of gold coins.
The last category, and arguably the strongest, are the Shapeshifting Mages. They can alter parts of their bodies or transform into hybrid versions of magical beasts. After transformation, they gain the same physical advantages as knights, along with an additional benefit: enhanced mastery over the element associated with the magical beast they've taken after.
"Dual Bloodline…" Victor's eyes narrowed as he came across a new term in the bloodline section—one he had never heard of before his regression.
According to the information, Dual Bloodline users awaken both the Knight and Mage Bloodlines, allowing them to wield both sets of techniques and even combine them. Unlike normal knights, they can use mana in place of Ki, making knight techniques even more powerful. They are exceedingly rare—only one in hundreds of millions—and possess both the strong physique and close-combat prowess of knights, as well as the destructive power and long-range abilities of mages.
"Miss Amanda, could it be that my bloodline is also a Dual Bloodline?" Victor asked suddenly, his voice full of excitement as he looked at Amanda's cold expression. She raised an eyebrow at his enthusiasm and replied in a neutral tone,
"No. It is not a Dual Bloodline." Amanda replied in a neutral tone.
"No…?" Victor, who had been smiling, froze and asked in a surprised voice, causing Miss Amanda's eyebrow to twitch.
"Yes. You do not have a Dual Bloodline—you possess a fourth kind of bloodline," Amanda said. Her neutral expression faltered for a moment as she looked deeply at Victor.
"Really? What kind of bloodline is that?" Victor, whose hope had just been crushed, suddenly asked.
" It's the Primogenitor bloodline" Amanda said in such a serious voice that it caused him to swallow a mouthful of saliva.
" Primogenitors?" Victor asked in a nervous tone.
