Headmistress's Office
Creak
Amber, who was reading a document, frowned when she heard the door open and sensed two presences enter the room without her permission. She was about to scold whoever it was for being rude but stopped when she raised her from the file and saw Amanda and Victor walk in.
"Amanda, Victor, why are you here again?" Amber asked with a raised eyebrow, as they had just visited her a few hours ago.
"Headmistress, I came to inform you that I'm taking Victor to the Spell and Technique Association to relearn his old technique," Amanda said calmly, Amber nodded her head in understanding but then a frown appear on Amber's face.
"I understand what you're saying, but wouldn't it be better for him to train and improve his swordsmanship first?" Amber furrowed her eyebrow, then asked Amanda in a puzzled tone.
"Headmistress, I've already reached the Sword Saint rank again," Victor replied calmly, causing Amber to blink several times as she looked at Victor in bewilderment.
"Amanda, did I hear correctly? Did he say he reached Sword Saint rank?" Amber asked, trying to confirm what she thought she had misheard.
"Yes, he did indeed reach Sword Saint rank," Amanda replied calmly. She had expected such a reaction from Amber before coming here, and honestly wanted her to experience the same shock as she did.
Bang!
Amber slammed her hand on the desk, cracking it slightly as she rose to her feet.
"Impossible! It's only been a few hours since you started training. How can he reach Sword Saint rank so quickly? You must be pulling my leg!" Amber retorted loudly, staring at the two of them in disbelief.
"Victor, show her," Amanda said as she tossed him a sword. Victor caught it and began performing Saint-rank swordsmanship right in front of Amber's stunned gaze. A few minutes later, Victor stopped and turned toward the Headmistress, leaving Amber completely dumbfounded.
Plop.
"It's really true," Amber said in a dazed voice as she slumped back into her chair and stared blankly at Victor. Then she quickly regained her composure and looked at him with suspicion.
"Amanda, are you absolutely sure? He really had lost his previous strength — he wasn't acting?" Amber asked, looking at Victor with suspicion.
'Hey, you know I can hear you,' Victor's lips twitched when he heard her words but still kept his facial expression unchanged.
"Yes, it's true. I checked him," Amanda said as she glanced at Victor.
"Unbelievable." Hearing Amanda's words, Amber sank deeper back into her chair, still reeling from the shock.
'What kind of monstrous talent is this? Not even those ancient Rankers could compare to him,' Amber thought with a shudder. Then she swallowed hard and stared at Victor like he was a monster.
'Damn — compared to him, aren't I a waste?' Amber cried inwardly. She had spent decades reaching Sword Saint rank, but he did it in a few hours. She felt useless and intensely jealous. She took a deep breath and looked at them.
"Why are you here anyway? I mean, it's definitely not just to inform me of this, right?" Amber asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes. First, I wanted to ask, did you reach the Sword King rank?" Amanda asked calmly.
"Yes, why do you ask?" Amber replied. Amanda didn't say anything but instead looked at Victor.
"Cough, Miss Amber, could you help me learn Sword King–level swordsmanship?" Victor asked after clearing his throat.
"You want to learn Sword King–level swordsmanship?" Amber was stunned, then looked at him as her eyebrows twitched. "It's not possible for you to learn it at the moment."
Amanda didn't seem surprised, but Victor looked puzzled.
"Why?" Victor asked. He didn't sense any reluctance from Amber to teach him, so he was curious about the reason.
"The main reason is that you are not a ranker—you need to reach Tier 1 first," Amanda said.
"I see." Victor sighed. Initially, he thought he could directly rush toward Sword King or maybe higher thanks to Akasha, but it seemed he was delusional.
"Additionally, there are more requirements," Amber added, catching Victor's attention.
"First of all, to reach the Sword King rank you need to comprehend a special energy called Sword Qi, which is extremely difficult. That's why most remain at the Sword Saint rank. Another factor is that you need to have the Knight or Dual Bloodline, otherwise you won't be able to use high-rank sword techniques that require Sword Qi. Higher-rank techniques also need better-quality Sword Qi. The same conditions apply not only for swords but for other weapons as well," Amber explained.
"How do I comprehend Sword Qi, Headmistress Amber?" Victor asked curiously as he looked at her.
"Well, the only way to comprehend Sword Qi is to consume a special potion," Amber said calmly.
"Potion? Do you have one?" Victor asked expectantly, which caused Amber to roll her eyes.
"Of course not. Do you think I would carry something like that with me? The only place you can get the potion is from the Holy Knight Temple. They are also a massive organization like the Spell and Technique Association, formed years ago, and like them, they also have branches across the Tower.
The potions require a proper formula to make, along with rare ingredients that the organization possesses. But they only sell the completed potions and never the formulas. Unless someone is lucky enough to obtain a formula from outside, like from a dungeon for example, everyone relies on the Holy Knight Temple. They also sell potions for comprehending other weapon Qis. Another thing is that, since the materials needed to create them are rare, they only sell them to geniuses. Instead of paying with money, the person who wants the potion has to create or improve existing knight techniques in exchange," Amber explained in one go as Victor listened attentively.
"I see," Victor said calmly, but inwardly he was shocked and clicked his tongue, realizing that being a knight was far more troublesome than being a mage.
"These are also the reasons I'm stuck at the Sword Saint Rank," Amanda said while looking at Victor. "Anyway, let's go."
Amanda ordered, and Victor nodded and followed her to the Technique and Spell Association.
