Although it was only a small HYDRA underground base, the intelligence it held was enough to make the CIA hang its head in shame.
Ever since Allens had taken control of the Manhattan facility, Hodgson had prepared a quiet chamber for him. Allens filled it with his illusions: blood-red tendrils clung to the walls and the door, the very air dropping to an icy chill.
His illusion ability created a complete hallucination field based on his imagination. Anyone who stepped into it would feel its reality—the touch, the sound, the sight. Inside this field, Allens could make others feel awe, dread, or freezing cold with nothing more than a thought.
But this time, he was cautious for another reason. He was about to use one of his most dangerous powers: the ability to see the future.
Allens had acquired a unique ability that allowed his soul to travel into the time stream, to witness events yet to come.
"The future of 2023… let me see how the Avengers are faring."
His lips curled into a smile. Activating the ability, his eyes turned pure white as his soul broke free of his body and raced along the currents of time.
Far away in Nepal, at Kamar-Taj, the Sorcerer Supreme—the Ancient One—sat quietly in her chamber. Her eyes snapped open. She had just sensed it: a foreign soul passing through the time stream.
Her normally calm heart stirred.
Even she required the Eye of Agamotto to glimpse future possibilities. Without it, even she would risk being torn apart and erased from existence, her very imprint wiped away by the river of time.
"Who is this?" she whispered. "Who dares to travel through time with their soul alone?"
Forming a mudra with her hands, she opened the Eye of Agamotto upon her chest. Her own soul left her body and entered the time stream.
Inside that domain, her eyes narrowed.
The future, usually so clear to her, was now in chaos. The flow of time had fractured, spawning countless golden tributaries every passing moment—born, then destroyed, weaving into and out of existence. And at the center of it all, the main river of time surged violently.
"This is troubling," the Ancient One murmured. "The timeline itself is changing."
In a single instant, she glimpsed countless futures. And yet, not once did she find the intruder who had entered the stream.
Closing the Eye of Agamotto with a soft click, she opened her eyes again, sorrow clouding her wisdom. The timeline was unraveling, and it left her with an ominous sense of crisis.
Meanwhile, Allens remained unaware that the Sorcerer Supreme had noticed his trespass. His soul had already reached the year 2023.
Half of all intelligent life in the universe was gone, erased by a single snap of Thanos' fingers.
Random and merciless, his act had wiped out everything—kings and beggars, warriors and children, even advanced civilizations like the Kree's Supreme Intelligence.
Earth had fared no better. Two-thirds of its people had been reduced to ash.
New York, once a shining metropolis, now lay in ruin. Skyscrapers stood broken and covered in ivy. Rusting cars and abandoned shops littered the streets. The surviving citizens walked like shadows, eyes filled with grief and rage. Mutual aid groups scrambled through the wreckage, trying to bring order to chaos.
It was a city that had endured apocalypse.
"Even though I saw this in a movie once," Allens whispered, hovering in soul form before a memorial, "it still feels different seeing it with my own eyes."
His figure flickered—and he vanished.
"Found it."
Allens reappeared before a massive three-story complex of steel and glass. Its sleek structure gleamed with reflected sunlight, and at its center stood a bold insignia: Avengers.
"The Avengers headquarters," he muttered, his eyes glinting. To his surprise, the heroes had all gathered inside.
Within the central hall, the surviving Avengers stood around an immense device. Above them loomed the reinforced ceilings of Stark's design.
"Alright, Bruce," said Tony Stark, older now, his voice wearied but steady. He held a massive gauntlet, fitted with six glowing Infinity Stones. "It's all up to you."
"Natasha Romanoff…"
Dr. Bruce Banner—now fully merged with the Hulk, standing three meters tall with intelligence and strength in one form—traced the Soul Stone embedded in the gauntlet. His usually savage face carried a rare tenderness.
Taking the gauntlet from Tony, he slid it onto his massive arm. At last, something was big enough to fit.
"Let's bring everyone back."
The energy surged instantly. Even Banner's Hulk body could barely endure it—burning scars erupted along his arm as the Infinity Stones poured destructive power through him.
Then, with a sharp crack, Banner snapped his fingers.
The explosion of energy rippled through the cosmos, igniting the resurrection of countless lives.
High above them, Allens' soul watched the sky split open. A colossal wormhole was forming, light cascading outward in every direction.
"So this is it," Allens whispered, awe flickering across his face. "The final battle hasn't even begun yet… but it's close. Avengers: Endgame, right before my eyes."
His lips curled into a smile as his gaze lifted toward the wormhole, eager anticipation burning in his eyes.
The greatest war of heroes was about to begin.
