"Ah, this is it!" the principal pulled out a form and handed it to each of them before explaining herself.
She had called them to tell them that they had all performed excellently well and would love for them to participate in a 'scholar's exam' which was to happen a week after the prom. She stated that if they participated in the exam, they would automatically graduate long side the seniors, skipping a year and it would help them get a huge opportunity of entering college on a scholarship.
Jayne stared at the form in her hand, it felt too good to be true, her grip on the form was tight and the shocked expression didn't go unnoticed by Eva, the moment she caught Eva eyes from the side, her emotions quickly shifted.
Eva and John found it all very intriguing and too challenging to pass up. Eva accepted and Jayne didn't hesitate either, then all eyes were on John for his decision, Jayne held his shoulder and squeezed it slightly before giving him an assuring smile.
He looked at her and smiled back before agreeing to take part in the exam, the principal was overjoyed, she signed them in for lessons on every available free day they had.
She excused them and they all left, John went on ahead while Eva and Jayne walked behind, Jayne tugged Eva signaling her how nervous she was.
Eva was a bit confused why she was so nervous all of a sudden, she took a deep breath after concluding Eva's cluelessness meant she was on her own.
"John!" she called out, he stopped and turned to look at the two girls behind him, Jayne walked up to him, her cheeks flushed and her gaze to the floor.
"A-are you busy tomorrow night? because I would love to be your date for prom." she said taking his hand and looking into his eyes with hope and uncertainty.
John looked down at his hands which and currently being held by Jayne, he stared to blush hard which didn't go unnoticed by Eva and Jayne, Jayne just chuckled and Eva smiled, excusing herself to give the two lovebirds a chance.
He tried to calm his racing heart down, and accepted. Jayne's smile held up for a few seconds before turning upside down.
"You were waiting for me to ask you this whole time?! What the hell is wrong with men?" she pouted her lips and walked away.
John grabbed her hand and pulled her back to him. He smiled and cupped her face in his hands. Jayne felt her body heat up. "I was scared you would say no and I would love to be your date." he said putting a piece of paper on in her hand pecked her on her nose "see you then, cutie" he said before turning to leave.
She opened the paper and his number was on it, she stood still, flustered by what she just encountered; it felt like a dream.
"Wow, I never knew nerd boy could be so charming" Eva said walking towards Jayne to bring her back to reality after witnessing a live love drama.
She tapped her on the shoulder and Jayne pretended to faint. Eva's eyes widened, catching Jayne before she hit the floor. "Am I dream?" Jayne asked.
"No but if you hit your head, you probably will." Eva said, making her stand up straight.
"I admire your courage" Eva said, walking away.
"Not all prince charming have a watch to know, it is time to save the damsel." Jayne said jumping up and down behind Eva.
"You were never in distress." Eva rolled her eyes.
"My heart was" Jayne clutched her chest dramatically.
They both went outside, Jayne phone alarm went off, she suddenly remembered that they hadn't gone to get their dress for the prom.
She pulled Eva hand and they raced to the mall, by the time they got there they were out of breath, one of the employees worried walked up to them.
"Are you girls ok?" a young blonde lady asked with a hint of concern on their faces.
"We have an emergency!" Jayne spoke out of breath. The lady was now deeply concerned.
"We need some dresses for prom STAT!" The woman blinked for a few seconds before smiling awkwardly "Oh, I'm sorry; I assumed it was a serious problem." She let out a deep breath of relief.
When Eva and Jayne saw this, they apologized for scaring her like that. The lady just smiled and offer to help them look for dresses.
They tried on different dresses from tight to super big taking pics and laughing around.
"Alright, let be serious, could you give us a blue and red, feature; unique but simple." Jayne asked the lady who later introduced herself has Lydia.
She nodded. The girl's giggled and tried more dresses, judging each of them.
Jayne clapped her hand in excitement, "I'll take blue and you take red." Jayne said grabbing a dress into the dressing room, Eva didn't know what to try so she waited for Jayne to pick a final dress.
She came out to show off a dress but she didn't like it, she tried on a few others until she came across a Royal blue dress. Both Eva and Lydia couldn't take their eyes of her. It was a
flowing blue dress, sleeveless with a cute silver heart embraided onto the dress and it flowed seamlessly, covering her legs and slightly brushing against the floor.
After seeing the expression on Eva and Lydia, she smiled and called out she had chosen this dress, she went back and took it off and came back with it the dress in her arm and she kept it aside.
"One down, one more to go~ that is you Eva" Jayne went to the rack of clothes "nothing" said Eva in it so she decided that, she should look around for anyone she liked.
Eva was skeptical, not sure if she could find a dress that was good enough.
She walked through the isles. Her eyes scanned around, not sure what they were looking for and her hand wondered, feeling the fabrics, hoping for something.
She decided to settle for one thing. Her eyes caught a dress hidden behind a pile of others. All dresses were arranged in color code and this red dress was in the wrong section.
As she approached the dress, she felt a strange sensation. It felt like someone had left it there for her to find. She looked around no one was there. Jayne and Lydia were still waiting for her to bring out a dress. She carefully picked it up and headed to the dressing room.
