Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Dual Specialization

A new week, teachers and students in the academy each went about their respective tasks.

Within the quiet Mage Tower, dozens of arcane magic matrices floated in the air. Beneath the circular magic circle, ten arcane construct skeletons stood.

These were materials that Leylin had purchased for 500 gold coins, delivered to him this morning by Lirath. In less than ten minutes, the grand magister had placed them within the magic matrices.

Hundreds of thorium and tin ore, along with a large amount of arcane magic dust, were quickly depleted.

Leylin didn't feel bad; this was a necessary part of his journey to progress. Grand Magister Belo'vir had consistently instilled this philosophy in Leylin.

Leylin had increased his nightly induction of arcane magical energy, hoping to unlock his new specialization. His efforts over the past few days had paid off, and Leylin's induction of arcane energy had intensified.

The observatory atop the Mage Tower was home to the richest concentration of arcane energy in all of Silvermoon City. This was the ideal location for the final breakthrough.

"Teacher, could you allow me to spend an hour in the observatory?" Leylin asked, putting down his book and standing up.

"Of course, but as a fire mage, going to a place like this would put a tremendous strain on your body. Different magical energies repel each other, and I'm worried you won't be able to withstand it." Grand Magister Belo'vir placed the four arcane core arrays in his hands onto a compass-shaped magic storage device, answering his student's question.

Leylin was well aware of the repulsion between different magical energies, but with his abilities there should be no problem harmonizing these magical energies.

"These past few days, I've sensed an abundance of arcane energy surrounding me. I believe I can mobilize and unlock this specialization" Leylin said confidently.

The grand magister hesitated for a moment, then said, "Are you planning to practice both fire and arcane magic?"

"Yes, current constructs require arcane magical energy. The creation of a core magic circles requires this kind of magical energy. It's hard with fire magical energy but they both have its uses."

The grand magister didn't try to stop Leylin. Instead, he smiled and said,

"I almost became a dogmatic and old-fashioned. You're human, not an elf, so your physical functions are definitely different from ours. In the human magic kingdom of Dalaran, there's a young man named Antonidas who, in his early days of learning magic, successfully mastered both ice and fire magic. I'm well aware of your progress over the past few days, and I have great confidence in you."

Receiving a positive response, Leylin ascended the floating staircase to the observatory.

Once again, back in the observatory, a place reserved for magicians, Leylin felt as if he were immersed in a vast starry sky, countless stars dotting the images in his eyes.

It was a place without boundaries, without limits. It was hard to imagine that this place, seen from the outside, was just a tiny house.

Leylin paused, standing in a special position.

He calmly closed his eyes and began to sense his magic. Leylin naturally spread his hands, guiding the arcane energy into his body. This was the method Leylin used to absorb fire magic energy.

With his [Sage Body] the absorption efficiency is quite high; the observatory possessed a vast base of arcane energy. Leylin's body was quickly filled with arcane currents.

Leylin concentrated deeply, trying to harness and guide the arcane currents flowing within him. His mind was a delicate balance of focus and instinct, attempting to weave the arcane energy smoothly through his body.

But as he reached out with his consciousness, something extraordinary happened.

The arcane currents collided with the fiery magic energy he had recently awakened, sparks flying in a clash of raw power. Instead of chaos, an unexpected harmony emerged.

The two energies—one pure, shimmering with arcane brilliance, the other fierce and crackling with fire—began to align within him, swirling together like a celestial dance.

They absorbed each other, merging into a radiant, cohesive force that expanded outward, drawing in magical energies from the very air around him.

The absorption was so intense that it caused a sudden, noticeable drain on the observatory's magical reservoir. Leylin's teacher, stationed nearby, felt a sharp, inexplicable loss of energy coursing through the room—a sudden void where arcane power once thrived.

The merging energies grew even purer, more potent, spiraling within Leylin's form like twin stars locked in a cosmic embrace. Moments stretched into eternity.

Then, slowly, Leylin's eyes fluttered open. But what they revealed was startling. Both fire and arcane energies burst forth from his body in a blazing, shimmering wave—an eruption of pure, unfiltered power that illuminated the entire chamber.

His form seemed to stand against a raging storm, a living embodiment of a celestial tempest. His teacher stared in awe and shock, realizing that Leylin had unlocked a force far beyond ordinary mastery.

It was as if he had become a conduit for the very essence of magic itself—a radiant testament to the uncharted depths of his potential.

The room trembled with the intensity of the energy, a silent warning that a new, formidable force had been awakened—one that could reshape the very fabric of magic in their world.

Leylin thanked Grand Magister Belo'vir, "Thank you, Teacher, for watching over me while I was fusing my dual-element magic."

"It's only natural, no need to elaborate. We should be happy that you've officially become a dual-specialization mage of Fire and Arcane!" Belo'vir patted Leylin's shoulder.

Leylin felt a little proud. At least now, he had achieved the same level of accomplishment as Antonidas.

"It was pure luck. If it weren't for the magic notes' teacher gave me, I wouldn't have succeeded."

"Dual-specialization mastery is excellent. Of all the magisters in Silvermoon City, only you and I can use it!" Belo'vir's eyes were filled with hope. He felt more and more that he had truly succeeded.

He wanted to prove to the Silvermoon Council and the Sunstrider Royal Family that his approach was right!

"Based on your raw magical power, you are already one step closer to becoming a Magister." Belo'vir said, a hint of a rare smile playing on his lips, his tone carried both awe and respect, recognizing the immense potential now radiating from Leylin.

"What you've unlocked today is not simply mastery over fire and arcane energies, but the very essence of magic itself. That kind of harmony… that level of control… it's what separates the gifted from the destined." He stepped forward, the glow of Leylin's unleashed energies casting long, flickering shadows across his face.

"But remember, true mastery is not just about raw power. It's about understanding the balance, the harmony—knowing when to summon such forces and when to contain them. You have begun to walk the path of the true Magister. Now, it's time to refine your control, to shape this immense energy into wisdom and purpose."

Leylin's eyes still shimmered with the residual flames and arcane currents as he absorbed Belo'vir's words. The grand magister's words weren't just praise—they were a challenge, a call to rise even higher.

"Okay, take a break first, then continue with the task at hand." Belo'vir returned his attention to his intelligent construct research project.
