Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Windrunners

The Windrunner family lived in a two story house near the coast located within Windrunner Village in the Ghostlands.

A marvel of arcane architecture and haunting beauty, perched atop jagged cliffs that overlook a mist-shrouded landscape.

Rising sharply from the rocky terrain like a needle of shimmering crystal, the spire is constructed from a gleaming, pale stone that seems to glow faintly under the ghostly moonlight.

Its surface is etched with intricate runes and delicate carvings, imbued with ancient magic that whispers of both protection and longing.

The first time he went to the girl's house, Leylin was very restrained. He moved his shoulders and tried to dilute the solidified atmosphere around him.

Feeling the abnormality in Leylin's body, the little sister looked up at Leylin's face, smiled quietly, and clenched her hands with ten fingers together more tightly.

"A little nervous." Leylin made a swallowing motion in his throat.

The little sister lay on Leylin's chest, listening to Leylin's heartbeat. After a moment, the little sister covered her mouth and burst out laughing. "You really dance quite fast."

"What are you doing standing at the door? Third sister and brother-in-law, come in!" A clear male voice reached Leylin's ears.

Suddenly being addressed as "brother-in-law" by a young elf, Leylin was startled. He stared at the handsome young elf standing at the doorway in surprise, their eyes locked.

Leylin wondered, could this Windrunner be the youngest brother?

"Lirath, you're making fun of your third sister! Watch out for your ranger allowance!" Vereesa's gentle expression dropped, and she glared at Lirath fiercely.

Lirath, feeling threatened, obediently shut his mouth and ran to the living room.

Following the little sister into the living room, Leylin's greatest fear came true. The eldest and second sisters, as well as the younger brother were all in the living room.

"Welcome, Leylin, we meet again," Alleria, wearing a light blue apron, helping in the kitchen.

"Hello, Alleria," Leylin greeted them both with a smile.

Sylvanas rested her head on a large table, tinkering with her longbow. She only raised her head slightly at Leylin's arrival, then lowered it again to return to her own tasks.

Alleria walked over to Sylvanas, patted her shoulder, and whispered something in her ear. Sylvanas took the apron from her waist, called Lirath to help then went to work in the kitchen in her eldest sister's place.

Alleria extended her hand in a gesture of invitation, indicating that he should be welcome.

Leylin, as if under scrutiny, was afraid of making any mistakes. He nervously sat down on the carved wooden bench, and his younger sister leaned over and sat down beside him.

"You two finally got what you wanted. How do you feel?" Alleria's eyes scrutinized Leylin and her youngest sister, who sat on the bench, their faces slightly flushed.

The normally graceful younger sister was also stunned by the question, her face flushed, her pale eyes darting anxiously while Alleria watched with furtive glances on the both of them.

"Eldest sister, don't talk nonsense. Leylin hasn't pursued me yet." The younger sister glanced at Leylin and squeezed his hand hard.

Since Vereesa didn't know about his improving physique due to acquiring [Sage Body]. Leylin acted to be in pain, smiled and said, "Yes, little sister, you're right. It's not time yet." Just then, Sylvanas emerged from the kitchen carrying turtle soup. She stared at Leylin with a cold, devouring look.

Alleria shook her head and said, "It's up to you. You look like a couple now."

After a moment's thought, Alleria handed the final word to Leylin.

"You've been studying magic here for nearly a week now. How are the results?"

"Not bad. I've already mastered several spells, and I'm still working on my arcane construct," Leylin replied.

Alleria's eyes lit up with admiration. "No wonder I think so highly of you. You're a human with a remarkable talent for magic. Among our people, there's a brilliant wizard named Dar'Khan. When he first started learning magic, it took him a full month to master a single spell."

The younger sister tugged at Leylin's arm. She'd never heard of his achievements, but now, delight was practically written all over her face.

"It's all Grand Magister Belo'vir's teaching. He gave me so many magical books and resources," Leylin said modestly.

Alleria's eyes froze for a moment, then she quickly said, "I thought it was Magister Rommath who was teaching you, not Grand Magister Belo'vir."

Alleria, recalling the Council of Elders' decision, shook her head, and thought: Who knows what those guys are up to?

"Don't worry. Grand Magister Belo'vir is also very powerful. As his student, you must work even harder." Alleria reminded Leylin.

"Yes mam."

"Just checking for my little sister. You're not bad, but not enough. Keep up the good work!" Alleria said calmly with a smile.

"Yes, I will." Leylin's eyes were firm, and the strength in his palms increased.

Perhaps because of this unfounded promise, the little sister rested her forehead on Leylin's shoulder.

A gentle voice, lowered in volume, reached Leylin's eardrums: "You have passed the level of my eldest sister. The only one left is my second sister. You have to work hard, otherwise, it is impossible for the two of us. I know my second sister's temper."

"It's time to for dinner." Sylvanas prepared a table of food, took off her apron, and said.

"Let's go," Vereesa signaled. "It's time to eat."

The dishes on the table were new to Leylin: spider meat, ghost-claw cat meat, and turtle soup—things humans couldn't even eat. While they looked strange, they tasted truly delicious.

The conversation at the table became more frequent, reminiscing about humorous past events. Alleria, Vereesa, Lirath, and even Sylvanas all smiled.

Leylin realized at that moment that both elves and humans value a peaceful and happy life.

After dinner, Leylin asked Sylvanas about his next purchase.

"Why are you buying a dragonhawk?" Sylvanas oversaw Silvermoon City's security and was familiar with these matters.

"It'll allow me to return home quickly. As you know, my old friend may be quick but a flying mount is faster,"

Alleria, Vereesa and Lirath cleaned up in the kitchen, leaving Leylin and Sylvanas alone in the living room.

"I'll keep an eye on this matter for you. I heard that the Silvermoon Council is preparing a new batch of dragonhawk riders these days, so perhaps there's an opportunity," Sylvanas said calmly.

"Thank you," Leylin said in a grateful tone. "Can I give you something as a token of my appreciation?"

Sylvanas snorted, but a hint of hope lingered in her eyes.

"Those stick figures? You'd better save your energy."

Leylin's sharp eyes detected Sylvanas's annoyance. He chuckled, thinking: Sure enough, the Windrunner girls love these cartoon portraits.

"Stop staring or I'll gouge your eyes out!" Sylvanas said nervously.

Leylin immediately stood up from Sylvanas's side and walked over to Lirath. "Sunsail Anchorage, I heard there's an elven caravan selling materials there."

"That's right, but most of the goods there are for magical constructs and handicrafts. They're not cheap."

"No problem, I can still afford them." Leylin pulled two gold coins from the magic bag at his waist and quietly placed them in Lirath's hand.

Lirath's eyes gleamed with gold, and he said excitedly, "Brother-in-law, my dearest brother-in-law, just tell me what you want to do!"

"Nothing else. I've been researching constructs these days, hoping to buy some materials. Also, just call me Leylin, since my relationship with your youngest sister hasn't been finalized yet." Leylin was flattered by Lirath's high favorability towards him.

"I understand. It just so happens that I'm going to Sunsail Anchorage tomorrow to pick up a shipment of arrows from the Kingdom of Lordaeron. I can keep an eye on them for you," Lirath said with a smile. It turns out that human money is the easiest to make.
