Seraphina knew that the upper chambers had always been cold, but the moment she stepped into Knox's chambers, the temperature dropped by another ten degrees. The room felt wrong. There was a humid cold that clung to her skin, and there was no fire lit. Only the silver rays of the moon illuminated the space from the windows. She paused at the threshold, resisting the urge to shiver.
"Alpha?" Her voice trembled despite her effort to steady it.
The darkness moved, and Knox emerged from it, towering in all his naked glory.
Seraphina's breath hitched. His transformation had already started. His eyes had abandoned their green and gone a red so deep it bled into the whites. Canines descended, catching in his lip, and when he spoke it was more a growl than a word.
