The game continued. Xis seemed to have found his luck again, winning several hands in a row. The atmosphere gradually relaxed. After a while, the game ended, and Pick stood up, preparing to leave.
"Hehehehe! My good brother, I had a great time today. Let's play again next time." Pick, enjoying the smooth skin of the woman beside him, bid farewell to Xis with a strange laugh.
Xis, smoking a cigar, said, "Of course, my brother. You're always welcome here."
Pick withdrew his mischievous hand, stroking his chin and leering, "Hehehehe, this little chick is not bad, I like her. How about you give her to me, brother Xis?"
Xis looked at the woman kneeling by the table, her mouth still stained with blood. Hearing this, she lowered her head, covering her hands and trembling.
Xis chuckled, "Brother Pick has spoken, and I shouldn't refuse. But, I still can't agree with you. Sorry, my brother, I also like this woman very much."
Xis said, stroking the woman's head as if he were petting a cute kitten. She lowered her head, feeling the large hand on top of her head, suppressing her trembling.
Pick's eyes narrowed, but then he laughed, "Hehehehe, I was too abrupt. I didn't expect you to like this kind of stuff, brother."
After saying that, he turned and left with his people.
The people around Xis, after hearing Pick's words, were also itching to step forward, but they were stopped by Xis's gaze.
After Pick left, Xis angrily threw the cigar in his hand to the ground and stomped it out.
Xis roared, "Damn it, Pick! How dare you insult me by saying I like to play with your leftovers! Damn it! If the boss hadn't told us not to cause trouble, I would have taken care of you, you short, ugly bastard!"
Xis knew very well that even if the boss hadn't said that, he couldn't do it. He had to listen to Bob's words and not cause trouble; this was the foundation of his survival.
Pick and Xis both wanted women, but Xis would of course not agree. This wasn't about wanting women; it was Pick trying to regain his face. But Xis couldn't give it to him. Not even a piece of toilet paper would he let him take. Xis wanted to be above Pick.
Pick, that short man, also knew that he and Xis had different weight in Bob's eyes, so he was the first to admit defeat in the previous card game. But in the end, Xis still didn't give him any face, so he had to disgust Xis in the end.
Still not appeased, Xis smashed the wine bottle and glass next to him onto the ground, and the broken glass shards instantly scattered all over the floor.
The woman kneeling by the table was also cut by the shards, her legs and cheeks bleeding. But she still didn't dare to move.
Xis was panting heavily. The spilled wine had soaked the carpet and stained his shoes. He disgustedly wiped his shoes on a dry patch of carpet.
Xis looked at the kneeling woman again, his eyes filled with loathing and coldness.
He waved his hand, and two bodyguards walked over.
"Get rid of that disgusting trash. Looking at her reminds me of Pick, that damn short, ugly guy," Xis ordered, addressing the two men.
The two bodyguards nodded and walked toward the woman.
Hearing Xis's words, the woman slumped to the ground. She finally raised her head, her beautiful eyes filled with despair and lifelessness.
She stared at Xis's face, as if trying to engrave him in her memory.
Two bodyguards stepped forward and dragged the woman towards the door. Her eyes remained fixed on Xis until she was pulled outside.
Xis waved his hand again, dismissing the people in the room. Then, he poured himself a glass of wine and plopped down on the sofa by the window, gazing at the night view while lost in thought.
Xis had been very agitated lately. He always felt like danger was lurking everywhere. The Evil Spirit was putting too much pressure on him, and then there were Ur, Yibai, and the terrifying video sent in the middle of the night.
One thing after another; he felt like his nerves were about to break.
Xis took a sip of his wine and leaned back on the sofa, murmuring, "Evil Spirit, oh Evil Spirit."
"Hiss~Snap" The lights in the entire room suddenly went out, and the whole room was suddenly enveloped in darkness.
Suddenly, Xis felt a warm, moist breath on his neck, and a long, slimy "snake" was crawling on his neck.
A voice like a devil sounded in his ear, a voice as hoarse as a ghost's panting, as cold as the abyss's icy wind.
"Are you the one who summoned me, Mr. Xis?"
"I've arrived. I imagine you have something to say to me, don't you?"
Xis froze, the voice like a spell, pinning him to the sofa. He dared not move, dared not turn around.
He was afraid that if he turned, he would see that terrifying face, and that if he turned, that terrifying mouth would bite off his head.
Xis, still holding his glass of wine, sat on the sofa. He rolled his eyes and looked towards the floor-to-ceiling window in front of him.
The large window faintly reflected his own image, sitting on the sofa.
Above his head, a pair of pale, narrow eyes were staring at him, radiating a chilling cold light.
Beneath the eyes, a mouth full of sharp teeth was grinning, a crimson tongue lolling out, and moving around his neck.
Xis's hand, holding the cup, began to tremble, his entire body shaking uncontrollably.
"Mr. Evil Spirit, what do you want? P-please don't kill me." Xis stammered, tears streaming down his face, utterly crushed by fear.
Xis pleaded, his voice choked with sobs.
Mengran reached out and gently stroked his neck, saying kindly, "Why are you so afraid, Mr. Xis?"
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to give you a gift."
Without heeding Xis's trembling and pleas, Mengran pinched his jaw with his left hand and held a centipede with his right.
Xis gaped in horror, frantically shaking his head to escape.
But Mengran's strong hand held his head firmly, preventing him from moving.
That centipede twisted its body with incredible agility, its numerous legs wriggling and flailing.
Xis watched helplessly as the centipede was shoved into his mouth. He could feel it, those countless legs still propelling it deeper into his throat.
The itching started in his mouth, moved down his throat, and then disappeared into his stomach.
Mengran released him. Xis immediately scrambled off the sofa, grabbing the bottle of liquor from the table and chugging it down.
After a moment, Xis clawed at his throat, trying to vomit up the insect. But all he brought up was the acrid taste of alcohol and stomach acid.
Mengran sat on a small sofa, watching Xis's performance with amusement.
Xis retched for a while longer, then collapsed weakly onto the floor. He used all his remaining strength to crawl towards Mengran, begging the Evil Spirit to spare him.
Mengran ignored his pleas, pulling out a small bone flute and putting it to his lips.
No sound echoed, but Xis clutched his stomach and writhed on the ground, wailing in agony.
After a while, Mengran lowered the bone flute.
He said coldly to Xis, "Mr. Xis should now have received my gift and felt my sincerity."
"This little worm will make you comfortable for a while each day. Only by taking the antidote can you alleviate the pain. If you don't take the antidote for three consecutive days or if you have any thoughts that are unfavorable to me, you will die suddenly."
Xis wasn't stupid. He knew that the Evil Spirit didn't kill him outright, but instead fed him worms, letting him suffer here. This meant the Evil Spirit definitely had something he wanted him to do.
Xis was covered in cold sweat and felt as weak as if he had been drained of all his strength. He collapsed on the ground, his face pressed against the carpet, gasping for air.
Hearing Mengran's words, he panted heavily and weakly said, "Mr. Evil Spirit, please tell me what I need to do. I will definitely complete it."
Mengran nodded. The young man was very cooperative, not bad, not bad.
Mengran stood up from the sofa and walked over to Xis, crouching down beside him to smooth back his sweat-dampened hair.
"I want you to quickly take control of the Crocodile Gang's situation after Bob dies. Can you do it?" Mengran asked softly.
Xis, lying on the ground, immediately widened his eyes upon hearing this, struggling to process Mengran's words.
Mengran wasn't in a hurry, waiting for Xis's reply.
After a moment, Xis finally made up his mind, speaking with a slight tremor in his voice, "N-no problem, Mr. Evil Spirit, I can do it."
After saying this, Xis glanced at the Evil Spirit's face, then lowered his head, bowing it to the carpet and saying, "Mr. Evil Spirit, although I can stabilize the situation, there are still some people who won't listen to me."
"Those heads, although none of them are stronger than me, if they unite, I won't be able to do anything."
After saying these things, Xis still hadn't raised his head, but he could feel the Evil Spirit's gaze on him.
Mengran heard this and looked at Xis, who was still lying on the ground. He smiled and said, "Very good. It's good that you can control the situation. That way, I don't have to find anyone else."
Xis trembled slightly at this, but quickly returned to normal, still lying there with his head down.
Mengran continued, "I will take care of the trouble you mentioned, like that short, ugly Pick, right?"
Xis, with his head down, said in a trembling voice, "Yes."
Mengran stood up and loudly declared, "The trouble will be resolved tonight. I hope you don't disappoint me."
"Oh, and about the trash here, I've taken care of some of it already. Remember to deal with it yourself."
Xis, still on the ground, replied, "Okay, no problem. It's their honor to be punished by Evil Spirit."
"Heh heh heh heh heh!" As if amused by his words, the terrifying laughter of the Evil Spirit echoed in the room before fading away.
Xis finally raised his head after a long while, the dark room now only contained him.
By the moonlight, he saw three pills laid out in front of him.
He quickly grabbed the pills, as if clutching his own life, and then collapsed on the ground, remaining there until dawn.
