As Meng Ran's voice faded, three figures immediately appeared around Gwen and Meng Ran. Two men and one woman, all wearing black half-face masks.
"Tsk tsk tsk! The Evil Ghost truly lives up to its name, discovering us so quickly. Number One! It must be your tracks that were exposed."
The woman, who had a fiery figure, spoke, her eyes above the mask alluring and roaming over Meng Ran.
The other man, who was relatively tall and more muscular with a buzz cut, said coldly, "Shut up, Number Two. Why don't you smell how strong your own stench is?"
Hearing their bickering, the somewhat lazy Number Three, a man with short hair, said helplessly, "Alright, alright, we're here to complete the commission. Let's all shut up first."
Number One and Number Two glared at each other and snorted, no longer speaking.
Meng Ran watched the three people opposite him coldly, without saying a word.
Number Three, the lazy man, spoke again, "Originally, the target was only the Evil Ghost. Who asked you to be here too, Ghost Spider, right? Remember to seek revenge from the Evil Ghost when you get to hell, or you can do it now."
Gwen snorted coldly. "Spare me the trash talk. If you've got something, then show it. Or is your strongest weapon just that foul mouth of yours?"
Hearing Gwen's words, the faces of the three on the opposite side immediately turned sour.
Meng Ran, though outwardly composed, was secretly shocked. Gwen's trash talk is actually so strong! How did I never notice that before?
After Gwen finished speaking, she immediately entered a battle-ready state. Meng Ran also lowered his hand to his waist, ready to strike.
Suddenly, Meng Ran pulled out a pistol and rapidly fired several shots at the three people in front of him.
In an instant, the three on the opposite side made the fastest reactions to deal with the approaching threat.
Number One, the burly man, stood his ground fearlessly. The bullets collided with his body, making a clanging sound before falling to the ground.
Number Two, the alluring woman, vanished from her spot the moment the gunshots rang out, reappearing to the right and slightly ahead of her previous position.
Number Three, the lazy man, instantly bent at the waist, dodging the bullets just as they arrived.
Seeing this, Meng Ran gained a preliminary understanding of these individuals.
Based on Meng Ran's analysis, Number One should be like the copper-skinned, iron-boned assassin from before, but seemingly much stronger.
Number Two likely possessed a teleportation ability, though the distance limitations, if any, were unknown.
However, Meng Ran estimated that there should be some, otherwise her ability would be too overpowered and wouldn't fit in this team.
The man that was Number Three was the most mysterious; so far, it was only clear that his reaction speed was extremely fast, but his specific ability was still unknown.
Having tested them, Meng Ran immediately whispered to Gwen, "You take on the big guy, I'll handle the other two."
"Your toxins should work very effectively on him."
Gwen nodded. Then, she shot a web at the hulking Number One, sticking to his hand.
Number One was about to charge forward when the web snagged his hand. Enraged, he roared at Gwen, who wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. He then ripped the web from his hand and charged towards her.
Meng Ran, on the other hand, quickly rushed towards the languid Number Three, while his gun continuously poured bullets at the woman, Number Two.
Meng Ran's speed had become incredibly fast after numerous upgrades. He was instantly in front of the man.
Suddenly, the Cloud Cutter appeared in his hand. He slashed at Number Three's neck.
Number Three stared at Meng Ran, who was suddenly right in front of his face. He was astonished; he hadn't expected Meng Ran to be so fast.
Seeing the blade about to slice his neck, he forced himself to quickly fall backward.
Using his super-fast reaction, Number Three barely dodged the fatal blow, but the icy blade still left a bloody line across his neck.
Seeing that his first strike had failed, Meng Ran immediately prepared to adjust and unleash a Cloud Cutter Blade.
Meng Ran thought to himself, You dodged my physical strike, but how will you dodge this blade aura? Even if you retreat ten meters, you won't be able to escape it.
Just as Meng Ran was about to unleash the Cloud Cutter, his mind suddenly began to warn him.
Sensing the danger, Meng Ran immediately ducked, spun around, and then, without pausing the momentum of his blade, slashed a crescent-shaped Cloud Cutter Blade upwards from the bottom, aiming at his opponent.
As Meng Ran quickly ducked, a jet-black dagger swept past the spot where he had been standing, right at his neck.
It turned out that Number Two, seeing Number Three in a crisis, had swiftly teleported behind Meng Ran to launch a sneak attack. If his opponent hadn't been Meng Ran, few would have been able to dodge this perfectly timed ambush.
But Number Two hadn't expected that this fiend seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. He had sensed the danger even with his back turned and immediately retaliated.
Having failed her sneak attack, Number Two felt the danger at her waist and could only use her fastest reaction to activate her teleportation.
Instantly, Number Two reappeared behind Number One, who had just adjusted his position.
Although her teleportation had saved her from being cut in half, her waist still bore a wound.
The black combat suit was torn by the blade, and her fair skin was stained red with flowing blood. If her reaction had been a moment slower, she wouldn't just have a single wound now, but would have been cut in two.
Number Two, the seductive woman, looked serious, her face pale as she stood behind Number Three, the lazy man.
Both of them had shed their previous disdain, warily watching the black figure not far away. The knife he held hadn't been stained with a single drop of blood, reflecting a chilling gleam in the moonlight.
Number Two took out a spray from her lower back, held her wound with one hand, and bit open the bottle cap with the other, then began spraying her wound.
The spray worked well, and the bleeding from Number Two's wound stopped instantly.
Seeing this, Meng Ran also breathed a sigh of relief. Although he hadn't held back with his previous strike, if it had landed squarely, she really would have been cut in two.
But he still hoped the woman wouldn't bleed out and die; after all, he'd need to possess her to gain her abilities later.
It seems I really can't aim for vital spots. Accidentally killing them would be a problem, Meng Ran thought to himself.
Number Three was still warily watching Meng Ran. He only breathed a sigh of relief when he heard the sound of the spray. At least the spray would save his life and allow him to maintain some fighting ability.
Although it would come at a cost, nothing was more important than life.
Seeing that Number Two had stopped bleeding, Meng Ran unleashed another "Star Cutter" at them.
The blade light swirled, and several blades of light shot out, instantly splitting into even more blades of light that flew towards the two of them.
Number Three's eyes sharpened as he saw this. He raised his hands, and countless fireballs gathered in them, quickly shooting towards the blades of light in the air.
The sound of explosions rang out as the fireballs shot by Number Three blocked all of Meng Ran's blades of light.
Suddenly, the flames blazed, and the collision of the two attacks produced a deafening roar.
Meng Ran began to circle around the instant the man raised his hand. The explosion of fire made Venom feel intensely uncomfortable.
Although Meng Ran had also increased Venom's resistance to fire and noise appropriately, Venom still felt uneasy about this natural weakness.
Meng Ran bypassed the flames and quickly ran towards Number Two and Number Three.
Number Three, seeing Meng Ran speeding towards him, raised his hand and launched several fireballs to greet him.
Meng Ran watched the fireballs spewing towards him, brandishing Cloud Cutter to unleash Cloud Cutter Blade, slicing all the fireballs in half.
The fireballs, cut in half, immediately emitted a series of roars before disappearing into the air.
Meng Ran didn't stop and kept running forward.
Suddenly, several large fireballs erupted behind Meng Ran. At the same time, the fireball in front of him finally dissipated, and Number Two and Number Three, who had been there, disappeared as well.
