Chapter 38 - Ending the Battle and a Mutation

It turned out the massive fireball behind Meng Ran was also their doing.

Number Two placed her hand on Number Three's shoulder, using her teleportation ability to move them both simultaneously.

Although this consumed a lot of energy, it would be worth it if they could eliminate the Evil Spirit.

The two of them had seen how Meng Ran avoided the flames.

Having fought countless battles, they naturally noticed the hidden meaning, "Could this Evil Spirit be afraid of fire?"

Once this thought arose, they immediately finalized their plan.

Number Two would use her teleportation ability to move them both.

And Number Three would need to constantly activate his ability, continuously launching high-density explosive fireballs.

When this frequency became quite rapid, a fiery cage formed, with fireballs surging from all directions, leaving the Evil Spirit nowhere to escape, to be burned to ashes inside.

Meng Ran watched the rapidly rising fiery cage around him, a sense of crisis rising in his mind.

He could feel the immense energy contained within these fireballs.

He estimated that once the fireballs got close enough, Number Three would detonate them.

The explosion power of these fireballs could not only obliterate him, but also shatter the nearby buildings, especially the one beneath their feet.

Meng Ran felt the rapidly rising temperature around him, the scorching, agitated air had forced Venom to retreat back into his body. He gripped the Cloud Cutter's hilt with both hands, closed his eyes, and focused his mind.

After a moment, Meng Ran suddenly opened his eyes again, his gaze sharp, and he swung the Cloud Cutter in his hand with force.

A flash of cold light, Meng Ran used the Cloud Cutter to draw a full moon around himself.

Under the night sky, two moons shone, blurring the boundary between heaven and earth.

Just as the fireball was rapidly approaching, almost at its critical point, the full moon Meng Ran had just drawn suddenly glowed with intense silver light, expanding rapidly outwards.

"Moon Cutter!" Meng Ran whispered.

A silver blade of light sliced through the surrounding fireballs. The fireballs, which were on the verge of exploding, instantly fell silent, then slowly dissipated into the air.

Number Two and Number Three, their faces ashen, supported each other. The previous plan had nearly exhausted all their strength.

But if they could eliminate the Evil Spirit, then it would all be worthwhile.

Looking at the Evil Spirit surrounded by fireballs, the two weakened figures already wore the smiles of victors.

But the sudden burst of silver light immediately froze their smiles.

Watching the gradually dissipating, now-uncontrollable fireball, both of them suddenly felt a deep sense of despair.

Before the fight began, they hadn't anticipated this outcome at all.

This battle wasn't the swift, overwhelming victory they'd envisioned. The Evil Spirit's strength completely exceeded their expectations.

In the short few minutes of fighting, Number Two and Number Three only felt utterly passive and struggled to cope, far from the quick resolution and victory they'd imagined.

Perhaps there was a feeling of being crushed, but it wasn't directed at the Evil Spirit; it was directed at themselves. They were the ones in danger now.

After Meng Ran broke through the fireball's encirclement, he quickly charged toward them.

Already nearly defeated, Number Two and Number Three had agreed to flee the moment Meng Ran broke through the fireball. So, they had turned and began to escape at their fastest speed.

Meng Ran watched the two of them turn and flee, a look of disdain on his face. With his speed, he could catch them in just two seconds.

Sure enough, in the blink of an eye, Meng Ran was already behind them. Number Three, sensing Meng Ran's approach, was terrified and reached out to grab Number Two beside him.

Number Three hoped Number Two could use her ability to quickly put some distance between them and the Evil Spirit behind them. But when he reached out, he grasped at nothing.

Number Three turned to look at Number Two in astonishment. He saw a mocking smile on her face. In an instant, Number Three understood Number Two's meaning.

Now that disaster was imminent, Number Two didn't want to expend too much energy. She needed that energy to escape the danger.

If she brought Number Three along, the energy she would expend would be several times more than if she went alone.

In this situation, both Number Two and Number Three knew the score.

Number Three watched Number Two abandon him and run, immediately feeling a wave of despair.

Meanwhile, Number Two was secretly pleased that Number Three could buy her some time, increasing her chances of survival.

Watching Number Two, who was harboring ulterior motives and trying to slip away, Meng Ran sneered, "Don't even think about it, either of you. No one is getting away today."

As soon as he finished speaking, countless thorns and tentacles instantly erupted around Meng Ran.

"Hell Mire!" This was a skill Meng Ran had combined from Thorn Hell and Thorn Mire, providing both damage and control.

Number Three's limbs were immediately pierced by the sharp thorns, and countless tentacles wrapped around them, immobilizing them.

Number Two had teleported away the moment the skill was released, trying to escape, but how could Meng Ran let her succeed?

During the previous fight, Meng Ran had already figured out that Number Two's teleportation range was only ten meters at most, so he expanded the skill's range, ensuring that even with teleportation, she couldn't escape.

Number Two reappeared not far away, but the instant she materialized, countless thorns and tentacles rendered her instantly incapable of fighting, unable to even teleport again.

And with that, tonight's battle concluded with Number Two and Number Three being controlled by Meng Ran.

As Meng Ran was tying up Number Two and Number Three, Gwen brought over Number One, who was wrapped in a large cocoon.

As expected, Number One's ability was a steel-like body, similar to the man from last time, but even stronger.

With his copper skin and iron bones, Number One was completely unfazed by Gwen's attacks.

Even after Meng Ran's combat training, Gwen was still unable to make much headway.

Although Gwen had a slight edge in combat, and her speed and reflexes were better than Number One's, she couldn't break through his defenses.

In the end, it was Gwen's constant attacks, releasing venom, that finally disabled this human tank.

Meng Ran looked at the three controlled figures in front of him, and reached out his hand with some anticipation.

It seems like these people's abilities are quite good, they should be able to enhance my strength. Meng Ran thought to himself.

Meng Ran's hands sprouted countless black lines, enveloping the three people in front of him and forming a large black cocoon.

As the number of people possessed by Venom increased, its possession ability also grew somewhat.

Gwen watched Meng Ran, who was currently operating, with interest. It was the first time she had seen Meng Ran's Venom possession; it looked very cool.

After waiting a while, Meng Ran finally heard the familiar electronic voice again.

"Congratulations to the host for obtaining a new ability!"

"Obtained Teleportation ability! (Can teleport up to ten meters at a time, the number of times is limited by the user's physical strength)"

"Obtained Bronze Skin, Iron Bones ability! (Passive skill) Strengthens skin and bones to resist damage."

"Obtained Explosive Fireball ability! (Due to Venom's natural weakness to fire and noise, and the current Venom's low resistance to them. Forcibly obtaining it will damage Venom; you can choose to give it up! Giving up the acquisition can grant a large amount of fire resistance.)"

Meng Ran closed his eyes, the electronic voice in his mind constantly reminding him of the new abilities he'd gained.

Meng Ran thought to himself, "Teleportation! This is a huge help to me. With my strong physique, this skill can be used as a flash, without a cooldown."

"Toughened Skin and Bones! Sure enough, it's an enhanced version of the skin strengthening I activated last time. It not only strengthens the skin but also the bones, and it also significantly increases the ability to resist damage."

Thinking of the last ability, Meng Ran frowned.

"Exploding Fireball. If I want to obtain this ability, I have to damage Venom, which is a bit of a loss. Besides, if I don't acquire it, I can gain a large amount of fire resistance."

"Then I won't acquire it, let Venom's fire resistance increase."

Meng Ran quickly made his decision.

Gwen saw Meng Ran finish his operation and asked curiously, "How is it? What abilities did you get? From what I saw just now, Number One should be defense enhancement, right?"

"And Number Two should have teleportation, but I don't know what Number Three's ability is."

Meng Ran, hearing Gwen's question, smiled and began to explain the abilities he'd just acquired.

After explaining to Gwen, Meng Ran looked at the three guys with the half-iron masks. Their outfits were pretty cool, but they weren't very durable.

Meng Ran stretched out his hands again, releasing wisps of black lines towards their faces.

Meng Ran still wanted to probe their memories. Although he hadn't yet found a way to solve the problem, seeing something was better than nothing.

Just like last time, as soon as Meng Ran began exploring their brains and searching for memories,

"Bang bang bang!" Three soft sounds echoed, and the brains of the three in front of him turned to mush again.

Meng Ran helplessly retracted his hands. Although it was a pity, there was nothing he could do.

Gwen didn't know what Meng Ran was doing or what had happened. Why were those three people's heads making a booming sound?

Meng Ran could only explain to Gwen while taking out the corpse-dissolving liquid and pouring it on the three people.

Soon, faint smoke rose from the corpses, and the three bodies disappeared without a trace.

Gwen was once again shocked by Meng Ran's methods. She had witnessed too many things tonight that touched on areas beyond her knowledge.

Meng Ran took out another bottle of corpse-dissolving liquid and handed it to Gwen.

"Keep this bottle. You might need it in the future. This stuff is really a must-have for killing people and taking their belongings, and for traveling at home."

Gwen didn't hesitate and took the bottle, starting to study the instructions on it.

Just then, Little White's voice rang out in Meng Ran's mind.

"Warning, Peter Parker has left home, and Ben Parker has also left home to search for Peter Parker."
