Chapter 18 - Remain Intact

"With all unpleasantness aside, since you can bring me profit, looking forward to cooperation with you," voiced out Edward Gu, being the first one to extend his hand.

Leo stared at his hand in disdain for a second before deciding to shake Edward's hand.

After a shake, he immediately pulled his hand back and coldly said, "This cooperation is only where the matters behind us stay. Don't try to get close to me."

Richard's face contorted mockingly.

"That's what we should be saying to you. Edward is the one with the golden reputation. It's you we should be embarrassed to associate with," Richard pointed out.

Edward maintained a good attitude and said, "Ignore him. He feels spider crawl up on his body when he acts nice to others."

Then, the knocks of the room was heard. After Richard gave the permission, a gorgeous woman stepped in, holding in her hand a bottle of champagne.

"I heard that you're here tonight, Mr. Gu. That's why, I took the liberty to come over. I am not disturbing anything, right?" There was a flirtatious smile playing on her face.

Edward removed his glasses, ran his hand through his hair, and returned her smile. He stated, "We just finished discussing business. Definitely could use a few good drinks."

A pout formed on the woman's face.

"Only drinks? It seems my presence here is unimportant then."

"How can that be?" Edward asked. "I can never get enough of you."

As the woman slowly made her way over to Edward, another one followed her and sat beside Richard, grabbing on to his arm.

"You haven't been coming here often anymore, Young Master Richard," voiced out the woman. "I have been missing you a lot. Look, I brought out your favorite whiskey too."

Richard's eyes wandered off to Leo, and he asked, "Is there anything you would like to drink?"

Before Leo could response, a sigh left Leah's mouth, and the next instant she placed her phone on the table.

Leo's attention was immediately grabbed by her.

"What's the matter?" he gently asked. Gone was the emotionless tone in his voice.

"I can't seem to pass this level," complained Leah. "Could it be that I am too dumb?"

"Let me see," Leo stated, taking the phone from the table. After a minute of playing the game, he won the level.

Leah's eyes stared at Leo in amazement. She expressed, "Wow! You're too good!"

Leo patted on her head. "A few more tries, and you will be able to do it as well."

The girl nodded before she closed her eyes and yawned. Exhaustion was written all over herself.

"Sleepy?" Leo questioned.

Leah nodded.

"Sorry, the discussion took time. This is past your bed-time. Let's get you home."

Leah shook her head.

After that, Leo didn't bother to exchange goodbyes before placing his hand around his wife's shoulder and walking out of the room, guiding her out of the night club next.

Richard placed one of his legs above others, still in shock from what he had seen.

"Never expected to see that mad wolfdog to be tamed by a foolish white rabbit," commented Richard, "who would have thought?"

A sharp glint crossed through Edward's eyes.

"A foolish white rabbit?" Edward uttered, "does that what it really looks like?"

When Leah woke up the next day, her phone rang up, receiving a notification from Arianna. Pushing her phone aside, Leah washed up and got dressed.

After that, she went downstairs to find the breakfast prepared for her by Leo. Along with it was a note, informing her how he had to get to work early.

Leah folded the note and placed it neatly at one side before eating her breakfast. Meanwhile, she opened her phone and searched for the store's name online— the one she met Arianna and Julie at.

Once she found the website, she searched for the suit and noticed it was listed there. Then, after filling in the payment and location details, she ordered the suit.

After Leah finished the last dumpling, she decided to look at the messages Arianna sent her. Immediately, a frown formed on her face.

Above was a photo of a gravestone attached. Trash was thrown all over her gravestone.

Then the message below stated, "If you don't come over by afternoon, nothing will remain intact."

Leah tightly clenched her phone, standing up abruptly. Biting down on her lower lip, she attempted to reel in her temper.

After a couple of minutes had passed, she firmly wrote, "I will be there. But first, get someone to clean the grave."

She received an acknowledgement from Arianna.

Seeing how there was still time present, Leah entered the kitchen, deciding to prepare a treat for Leo. Since he had made the breakfast, this was her repayment for him.

As she checked through the cabinets, she realized there were enough ingredients to make a fruit cake and decided to go along with that.

Placing the dried fruits and nuts on the chopping board, Leah cut through them carefully. In the middle of that, a wince left her mouth.

As a drop of blood fell on the chopping board, she raised her hand to look at the slash in her palm. Red blood gathered on the surface quickly.

"It hurts," she muttered.

Going over to the sink, she washed her hand before proceeding to roughly wrapping it up with the bandage to stop the bleeding.

Then, using her other hand, she continued to prepare the batter for the cake before placing it inside the oven.

The oven rang up when the cake was prepared. Leah took out the cake from the oven, satisfied with the result. After placing it on a pretty place, Leah grabbed her phone from her pocket and clicked a photo of the cake.

She sent it to Leo with a text that read, "Baked it for you, Husband."
