Chapter 51 - Mr. Franklin

Colt and Blue shared a look over the rims of their tea glasses. Tate sure did sound irritated. With them? Or with his kid? Blue figured it was a little bit of both.

Even when you knew the cops, having them come to your door and invade your home made most people uncomfortable, and as parents, they were probably upset their daughter had discovered a dead body in the woods.

Unlike her husband's surly way of coping, Betty Mae funneled her stress into crocheting. She picked up a crochet hook and started increasing the edges of a yarn square. 

Right when Tate opened his mouth to holler for her again, Hailey came into the living room. She wore an oversized T-shirt and yoga pants, her bare feet showing off sparkly red toenails. She glanced at Blue and Colt then turned to her father. "I already told them everything," she said. "I don't want to talk about it anymore."

"They got more questions," he said. "You answer truthfully now."
