"No," said Cal too quickly. "We don't have anything to do with Gary. Honestly, I don't speak to Roger, either. Tate and I talk every now and again, but mostly because our kids are dating. I'm not part of the Quad anymore, and I haven't been for a long time."
Hmm. Blue remained unconvinced by Cal's denials. "If you say so." She cleared her throat. "Y'all mind if I get some water? I'm feeling a bit parched."
"Please forgive me for not offering anything sooner." Maria scooted to the edge of the
couch, preparing to stand.
"I'll get it," said Cal.
"No, no." Maria smiled at her husband. "I am the hostess."
Cal smiled back, and Blue could see that Cal Rider loved his wife. And she loved him. Well, I'll be. Whatever the couple's story, it was obvious the marriage was real.
Cal helped his wife get to her feet. She leaned down and kissed the top of his head before she trundled out of the living room.
