Chapter 53 - A Shame About Gary

"We saw you coming up the drive," said Cal. "We heard about Gary. Is that why you're here?"

"Sure is."

"I don't know how much we can help, but we'll try. Come on in, Blue." He opened the front door to his home and led the way, holding the hand of the dark-haired mother-to-be. Blue took off her hat, shutting the door behind her as she followed the couple inside. 

They shed their coats and hung them on the hall tree about two feet away from the front door. Blue took off her thick brown coat and added hers to one of the remaining hooks.

To her left was a wide white-carpeted staircase with a wood banister that shone brightly as though freshly polished. She even detected the faint smell of lemon-scented cleaner. To her right, she noted the artwork-filled wall, mostly landscapes and flowers. Her cop shoes clicked against the marble floor, echoing in the cavernous foyer.
