Chapter 24 - Confession

Ethan's POV

I didn't say a word as I dragged Lila down the east wing hallway. My grip on her wrist was tight enough to make her stumble once, but she didn't resist. The only sound was the echo of our footsteps and her ragged breathing, the silence between us heavier than steel.

By the time we reached the old library, my chest was tight with the storm raging inside me. I shoved the heavy door open and pulled her inside. The air was cool and still, faintly laced with dust and parchment. Moonlight streamed through the tall windows, silvering the shelves and throwing our shadows against the far wall.

The door shut with a deep thud, cutting us off from the rest of the castle.

I turned on her.

"What the hell was that?" My voice came out low, sharp, carrying the edge of my wolf. "Attacking Soraya? Have you completely lost your mind?"
