Kael's POV
I was busy calculating the prices of a customer's goods on the counter machine, the rhythmic beeps echoing lightly through the small supermarket. I tallied the total and looked up.
"That'll be $42.75," I said.
The woman swiped her debit card, nodded with a polite smile, and I packaged her items efficiently. Handing the bag across the counter, I returned her smile.
As she turned to leave, she pressed a business card into my hand and whispered, "Call me," before disappearing down the aisle.
I stared at the card for a moment, slightly shocked, then slipped it into the drawer where I kept the others.
"Are you gonna call all those ladies?"
I jumped slightly and turned to see Connor leaning against the counter with that knowing grin of his.
"That's the third today," I said, laughing despite myself.
Connor shook his head. "Seems the ladies here are all attracted to you. I wouldn't blame them—you're a cool guy."
"Come off it," I told him, rolling my eyes.
