Kael's POV
Leonidas' words struck me like a lightning.
"Excuse me?" I asked, stepping forward before I could stop myself.
"I said she's okay," Leonidas replied, that smug smile never leaving his face.
My wolf growled low in my chest, anger licking through me like fire, threatening to break loose. Every instinct screamed that this man knew more than he was letting on — and that whatever he meant by "for now" wasn't good. My blood burned hot, my fists clenching on their own.
"How can we reach her, please?" Maya asked again, trying to keep things calm.
Leonidas' smirk widened. "The human girl?" he repeated, dragging out the words like it was some kind of joke.
Something in me snapped.
"Can you cut it out?" The words ripped out of me before I could stop them.
The room went dead silent.
Leonidas' smile vanished. He stepped forward, and his presence was suddenly suffocating, heavy, electric. His power brushed against my wolf, daring me to fight back.
